Can you recommend me a Series please

Since having my kindle I've stopped buying "one-off" chick lit books (Jill Mansell, Marion Keyes etc) that I came across in the supermarket and have really got into reading whole series of books.

So far I've managed to do the following;

Janet Evanovich - Stephanie Plum
James Patterson - Womens Murder Club
Kathy Reichs - Brennan
Patricia Cornwall - Scarpetta
Dan Brown - Robert Langdon
James Patterson - Alex Cross
Lee Child - Jack Reacher
Phillip Pullman - Dark Materials
Stephanie Meyer - Twilight
Suzanne Collins - Hunger Games
Rick Riorden - Percy Jackson
Cassandra Clare - Mortal Instruments

As you can see my tastes are mainly either crime, or teen fantasy stuff. I do still like chick lit and I am fond of a bonk-buster.

What would you recommend I look at next please?

Have you read the Eoin Colfer Artemis Fowl books? Or are they too young? I like them (but I'm easily pleased!)
I'm also collecting the Septimus Heap series (by Angie Sage) at the moment - similar age range as the Artemis Fowl books, I'd say.
And then there's the The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel collection (by Michael Scott) - more of a teen audience, this one.

Silly question - but do you not rate Terry Pratchett? That's a massive series to get into, you'll be kept busy for ages!

Am I the first to suggest the Discworld books? Some of them have vampires as well! For chick-lit, Marian Keyes' Walsh family books are among the best in the genre.

You might like Jasper Fforde's books - the Thursday Next series, and the Nursery Crime series.

Just going to add in a negative here to the Karin Slaughter books - they're horrific! Well the first two were and I haven't been back to her. Got far too far into my head and stayed there, images I simply don't need in my head ever but now have trouble getting rid of whenever her name crops up. If you don't have that actively pictorial an imagination then you'll probably be ok; but if you do then tread cautiously!

I second neffi's suggestion of Ben Aaronovitch's series. Love these books.

They're quite fantasy but Scott Lynch's Lies of Locke Lamora are awfully long incredible once you get into them. Made me laugh and sob

Have you read the Karin Slaughter books? First is Blindsighted but you MUST read in order! Think you will will like it if you like Kathy Reichs.

Oo oo - Christopher Brookmyre! I particularly like his titles, actually. Crime/detective books.

Laurell K Hamilton's vampire/werewolf hunter books are pretty good (or at least the first few were) but her fairy books (or the one I read anyway) are shit.

I think you would love mark billinghams Tom THorne series, really excellent crime series based in London.

Oh yes, I'd also forgotten I've read Tolkiens stuff, as well as Game of Thrones.

I've downloaded the first of several of these and will see which I like and continue with the rest of the series.

Forgot to mention before, I'm reading Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London series, and eagerly awaiting the next instalment out next month.

Also enjoying S J Parris's Giordano Bruno series - starts with Heresy, then Prophecy, Sacrilege and Treachery. Set in Elizabeth I's reign.

the Sookie Stackhouses are good (well, they start off good) but the Harper Connelly ones I found such downers.

Kate Atkinson's Jackson Brodie ones are good.

Elizabeth Jane Howard's Cazelet Chronicles (the first one is The Light Years)

and Penny Vincenzi did a very good series about a women who set up her own publishing company or similar, I enjoyed them a lot and she's not my usual kind of thing.

what about The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings?

Simon Kernick is also pretty good, some are stand alone (I think) but some have the same coppers in them & you get to hear their story through out his books.

I also like Karen Rose some of the characters are intertwined in each book.

Ben Aaronovitch writes a series called the Rivers of London. It's modern day crime with magic. Fifth book due out in November.
