Huge panic. Dress doesn't fit

Glutted · 20/10/2020 14:22

Hi all,... I've name changed for this, we have only told 7 people we are marrying in November hence I'd prefer not to be identified.

We were originally due to marry in April, my last dress fitting was end of February. We have since had 2 weddings cancelled. I've therefore not tried my dress on since February. I presumed my weight was fairly stable.... today I've tried my dress and I cannot get the dress zipper done up, I basically need to lose around 5mm from my upper rib area in the next month.

I'm 5'10", 11st 10lbs, size 12.
Generally eat fairly healthy, salads with drizzle of balsamic for lunch, lean meat and veg for dinner (none of the larger carb groups), and 2 eggs for breakfast or soya yoghurt and fruit. Snacks are normally home made peanut bites (maple syryip, peanut butter & coconut flour) or something similar nut based.

Im reaching out to you all for any tips to help me get into my dress. Im the same weight now as I was in February.

Exercise is something I could improve, walk around 10 to 15 miles each weekend. 1 mile or 2 each evening, i suffer with back ache due to slipped discs. Welcome your suggestions on change to diets and exercise.

Exciting update. We have a new date, end of this year. I managed to keep the weight off during the last lock down. The dress fits perfectly. It looks like we will finish this year with a smile and a fabulous memory to look back on. Smile

Sorry about your wedding, but glad you got into your dress. Now you know what works.

Hope you get to have your day soon.

I'm really sorry about your wedding op. Absolutely sucks.

I hope, when your day comes, that you can celebrate it how you want.

Friday afternoon i tried the dress on.... the zip went up smoothly. I lost a total of 3.4kgs by cutting out wine and peanut butter bites and upping exercise / walk.

All this was a wasted effort after last nights announcement.

I guess, on a plus side I know the weight I need to aim for if we can reschedule and also have the knowledge that I am able to lose weight if I set my stubborn mind to it.

Thank you to all you lovely posters for your support and inspiration. Please keep safe

@MarkRuffaloCrumble so in your view anyone who doesn't eat crap (crisps, chocolate bar and other party or children food) or ultra processed food as an adult woman is on a diet?
Maybe you have a distorted view of what an adult should eat.
OP's diet is great but even on a great diet you sometimes put on weight. By restricting her amounts she lost weight and we are all happy she will soon fit in tha wedding dress.

Dieting is not something I've done previously

I hate to break it to you, but you basically live on a diet if that’s how you normally eat!

Hope you get comfortably into your dress in whichever manner works for you, and have a wonderful day!

Hi all, hope you've all has a good weekend.

Thought you may appreciate a little update.

Im nearly 2kg down on last week. Zipping up the dress is looking very promising. Although I did indulge in 2 glasses of wine Saturday night. Aim is to be extra good this week with additional calorie burning efforts.

Atalune, I used to love HIIT, but unfortunately I'm unable to take part due to a minor back op.

I'll look at different kinds of exercise to get that last push and tone.

Breakfast this morning was 2 boiled eggs, I tend to alternate breakfasts... Good to have a mix.

All good and positive here again today, I hope you are all having a positive day.

Go on MFP and start counting calories.

Good luck! You may loose water quite quick if you stay of the wine.

Spanx underwear. The dress will zip like a dream.

You eat very little, I wonder if your body is I. Starvation mode and “holding on” to your calories as you give it so few.

Your diet on my non trained eye looks like too much sugar. Sugar in the yoghurt, the fruit.

Porridge for breakfast?

Exercise seems to be a problem for you- you won’t hardly burn anything walking. can you do anything more strenuous? Could PT advise?

I do lots of weights and maintain a size 8/10 with a healthy balanced diet- I watch what I eat but I eat more than you .

Breakfast- eggs
Lunch- some kind of salad with cheese and loads of veg, maybe some crackers. Some crisps. Possibly some grapefruit
Dinner- sometimes a protein shake (homemade) or sometimes a small version of what I have made the kids/dh. Last night I had 2 meatballs, some pasta and tomato sauce and some sweet potato.

I do exercise everyday and sometimes twice. But the twice might be a weight class then a ballet barre class. So quite different. I do HIIT twice a week too, piyo and body combat

Familyofaliens, this really isn't a miserable way of living, trying to lose weight, eating food I enjoy, making a few minor sacrifices and hopefully fitting into my dress and enjoying my wedding which has already been cancelled twice this year and eventually marrying the man i love makes me happy! A positive goal and mindset will never make this a miserable event.

So... I've managed to lose just over 1 kilo this week, excited to try the dress on this weekend to see if I'm closer to getting the side up (its a side zip).

Thanks to all the lovely posters who have taken be time to give advice and provide support

3 litres is roughly 6-8 glasses (depending on glass size) which is exactly what the NHS recommend, it's really not that much

NHS suggests 6-8 glasses of fluid, so other drinks are included. That’s easily achievable. It’s the idea of having to drink that amount of water in order to lose weight that I find grim Grin

Ha ha ha.

You don't need to be messing around with cutting down on your food. You've just casually let slip that you drink 2 glasses of wine each evening and that right there is your problem Confused

I had exactly this problem 2 months ago. I went to spin classes 5 times a week and the dress fit on the day 💪

Is the zip down the back of your dress OP? You could always get that changed to a corset back.

@FamilyOfAliens

This sounds a miserable way to live, OP.

Just get the dress let out. Three litres of water a day? Fuck that shit.

I'm not a fan of shakes usually but given you have a short window and would go back to normal afterwards, maybe have a look at Huel? A couple of my friends who usually eat healthily have done it and found it very quick and easy to loose a few pounds quickly without starving themselves.

I bloat more mid cycle than I do pre period, so it could be that?
