Does it matter what the calories are?

I don't want to be lectured about healthy eating as I've got a huge amount of weigh t to lose and I'm just trying what I can go get it down. I have a set calories amount of 1500 (though I try to stay abi t under so 1300-1400) does it matter what the calories are? So for example I've had a whole pizza for dinner Blush (just a supermarket cheese one) but it's 600 calories and fits within my allowance,so my question is does it matter what the calories are? As long as it's under your allowance will I still lose weight?

@PumpkinP do you weigh daily? Be aware that salty, carby meals will lead to water retention for a few days after, which will look like an increase on the scales.

Let it gooo. I clearly stated that for 5 week she I have been eating s range of things but when I posted this thread a couple of days ago I had a pizza. I’ve not been eating it the whole time so I asked if it would effect weight loss going forward as from now!! As I’m yet to know that since it Was Only a couple of days ago, after I had it I wondered if it could effect the weight I’ve already. But I already said all of that so you are either deliberately trying to nit pick of choosing not to read. I know which one I think it is!

But you answered it yourself...you said you’re still loosing weight, no one has critisced you, people are just confused why you asked and answered your own question. Confused

I think at your weight, you will lose weight if you reduce calories, no matter what.
I went on a diet after my second child. I wasnt obese or anything, but i used to have a bmi of 18 all my life and after the second child it was 25.
I cut calories to fit into my old pants and for me it didnt really matter what i ate, as long as i stayed around 1200 calories per day i kept losing weight.
I did notice after a while that it was easier to stick to the 1200 calories when i cut down on carbs. Protein kept me full for longer.
I also noticed that when i got close to my target weight, eating a pizza would instantly show on the scales.
Its really trial and error. Just do what works for you now and then adjust your diet as you go.

Nah it’s calories in and out very basic concept. I lost 4 stones twice after two successful pregnancies and all I did was eat less and walk. Ate everything, no restriction whatsoever apart from eating less of the same. Lost weight consistently, didn’t binge eat and didn’t restrict. Good luck you can do it. Oh i just remembered there was a while when I went back to work and everything was so hectic, all I did was eat an
Iceland pizza for dinner every single night for a whole month and still lost weight.

Thing is, for all those knowledgeable posters talking about nutrition, macros, insulin etc, of course you aren't wrong, but when you're talking to someone who is new to all these concepts and just trying to shift lbs it's too much. You're over complicating the whole thing.
Calories in must be lower than calories out and you will lose weight. That's a basic truth.

Precisely. Good, clear, concise helpful post. Thank you Smile

does it matter what time you eat ? so long as your in your allowance can you eat when u want? anyone?

Not at all. You can have your calorie allowance across a 24 period and in fact some people track over 7 days so if they go over one day they make it up the next and that is still effective for weight loss.

If you have a huge amount of weight to lose, 1500 is probably too restrictive, anyhow. My bmi is 25vznd I'm all of 5'4vand the ripe old age of 50 and would lose quite rapidly at 1500 per day.

Calories out have to be more than calories in so yes, eat your pizza.

Don't listen to the rubbish on how some calories affect your body differently. DP eats calories through 1 meal a day of processed chicken and chips. Religiously. No fruit or veg. Never sick, has abs, thin, lean.

You might struggle with toning up but at present just focus on the weight loss and well done!

Newnamewhodis1 not really answering the question though is it. Most people gave said i will still lose weight. I clearly stated I didn’t want to be lectured on healthy eating. People are getting arsey because I ate a 600 cal pizza, Hmm I never once said I eat it every day . I don’t. I was wondering if it’s Ok to eat stuff like this when you fancy it now and again, and whether it would impact on weightlossneven when sticking to your calorie allowance. Some posters have taken that to be that I am eating pizza everyday and nothing else. I eat a variety of things, I haven’t eaten a pizza in 5 weeks but I felt like one the other day so had one when I posted, hence why I asked if it would effect the diet because I’m yet to know that as it was only the other day. Im not going to deprive myself of things I like as that won’t work long term either. plenty of people have “cheat days” On diets. It’s not even a cheat day IF IM STICKING TO MY CALORIE ALLOWANCE. Someone I want to come home and stick a pizza in the oven and not have to cook everything from scratch weighting each individual ingredients.

But you've answered your own question by saying you're losing weight! Therefore the only other advice people can give you (which they have) is about a healthier way to do it.
