Ideal weight for 5'3 🤔

caremummy · 11/07/2017 16:19

I'm 5'3 small-medium frame and doing SW & c25k. Just realised will need to think of and aim towards a target weight but as I've been overweight since the age of 12 I don't know 🤷‍♀️. My BMI is currently 27.5, the NHS suggested 7st10 (lower end) which I could never achieve and wouldn't want to. Any thoughts appreciated - t.i.a xxxx

I'm 5'4 and 8st2, which feels about right. I think that formula above sounds pretty accurate.

I'm 5ft 3 and was 9 stone 2 pounds on the scales this morning. It takes a huge amount of discipline with eating and exercising a few times a week to hover around 9 stone.
I really can't imagine being under 9 stone, I'd have to starve myself.

I'm 5ft 3 and currently 13 stone

My ideal is 8.5 stone, I feel flabby still at 9.5

I'm currently a size 14 and would be a 10 at 9.5 and a 8-10 at 8.5

There is no ideal weight because we are all built differently. I'm 9 stone at the moment and look gaunt, I look far better closer to 10 stone. Equally someone could be 8 stone and that is ideal for them.

Don't set yourself a definite target. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll know when you've reached the right weight for you.

My friend is slim and fit and is 5ft2 and weighs just over 10 stone, she has quite a bit of muscle though

I'm 9st and I already struggle with finding clothes my size :/ . I'm XS at some places and size 6 in others. I had to buy some kids t-shirts because there weren't any smaller ones at gap !

I am usually between 7 and a half and 8 stone.

I'm the same height as you and currently 9 and a half stone. I'm trying to get down to 9 for my wedding.

That formula sounds about right for me. At 10st 3 it was all round my tummy and I could barely squeeze into size 12 trousers. I used 5:2 and got down to 8st 2 which was too scrawny for my top half - I was all ribs and collar bones. Around 8st 5 is my happy medium so I still have 4.5lbs to lose by next Saturday when we go on holiday.

100lbs for first five feet plus 5lbs for every additional inch for a very petite frame/small boobs (Devine formula)
108lbs for first five feet plus 4lbs for every additional inch for others (Robinson formula)

So 5'3" would 115-130lbs. So 8 stone 3 to 9 stone 4. Anywhere you feel most comfortable in that range.

I'm 5' 3"
Currently 8 stone 10 ish which is a bit more than normal for me but I'm still bf so boobs (and bum and tummy) are a bit bigger.
I don't think I look too bad though and the majority of my clothes still fit bar a couple of pairs of tight jeans.
I'm normally between 7 1/2 to 8 stone. I don't mind being a bit heavier.
I was between 6 1/2 and 7 stone Shock when I was younger but I had teeny boobs and i have a small frame.

Sorry to hijack slightly but wanted to say thank you OP.

This gives me an idea of what I should be aiming for. I'm severely underweight so being 5"3 it looks like 7 stone would be a good minimum at least

I am 5 foot 3 but anything below 9 and I look ill. I am an hour glass and no amount of dieting will reduce my 36" hips and 36" E boobs. At my thinnest I was 36 - 24 - 36. My size must make me look taller as people are always surprised by my height and assume I am taller.

I hover around 7 stone 12, and can drop a pound or two when I try, but I find 7 stone 12 is the perfect balance of feeling good and eating whatever I want.

I have two close friends my height and the are in the 7stone range and look bloody amazing

I'm 5ft2 and 8 and half stone. I would never be able to get below 8 but would love to get to 8st3.

When I go above 9 I feel massive, I feel as wide as I am tall-not a nice feeling!

I have big boobs (dd) tiny waist but have a tendency to carry weight on hips and tummy. Slim fat is perfect expression for me. I look fine in clothes but have about 25-30% body fat

I think it does depend a bit on how petite your frame is and how big your boobs are. Also, half a stone makes a pretty big difference at the lower height range.

I'm 5'3 and hover around 9 stone. I have a small frame i.e. tiny wrists, no hips and definitely no boobs! I feel amazing at 8'7 but it is far too difficult to maintain. 9 stone is maintainable with little effort really. If I slide towards 9'7 I do start to look pudgy.

I reckon 7 stone would be extremely light for 5'3.

I am that height and should be around 9 stone, though I used to be 8 and a half some years ago. I need to lose a lot of weight as I'm around 12 stone at the moment, far, far too heavy. I have smallish bones and I just can't get away with any extra weight. It's just crept on despite having lost 2 stone a few years ago. I can't see how anyone this height would look good over 9 and a half stones unless they were quite big boned.

I look good at anything under 9 and a half. I'm pear shaped though, so have v slim waist and torso at that weight, and just a slightly large arse.

For me I look best at 8 stone 3 and feel fine up to about 8 stone 11. I'm fairly slight though.

How do you feel?

I'm 5'3" and definitely feel a bit overweight at my usual weight of 11st but wouldn't want to go below 9st. After having DD and bfing for a year, I naturally got down to 9st 6lb and felt fantastic, but I felt like if I lost any more, I'd be starting to look gaunt. And my bum and hips disappeared which I hated! I was a size 10-12 at that weight, I wouldn't really want to be any smaller than that. It depends on your whole frame, not just your height.

I'm 5'3 and weight exactly 9st. I had always been overweight so I still struggle to know what my "ideal weight" should be as I have no frame of reference. My size is a 6/8 and have a very athletic build (think visible muscles pretty much everywhere!)

Report
cathyandclare · 11/07/2017 16:59

I'm 5'3" I feel ok at 8st 9 and good at 8 st 5, I don't think I've been below 8st 2', my body or my greed just won't get that low and even at my lowest weight I've never looked remotely skinny.
If I teeter over 9 st 3 I look properly stocky
I LONG to be willowy but with short sturdy limbs that is an impossible dream.
