Irresistable urge for carbs after exercise class - will this happen again??

Not sure if this is the right topic for this, feel free to redirect me if it isn't.

I've been successfully cutting calories for the past few weeks and doing pretty well, no cravings or binges. Yesterday I attended an exercise class that focused on legs and core, something that I tend to avoid due to level of difficulty - my abs are pathetic... Anyway, l gave it my all (still pathetic) and then last night found I had cravings that couldn't be ignored. For carbs. Actually, it wasn't just craving, it was proper hunger. Followed by a nose dive into noodles. I know, I know, but honestly, it's ALL I could think about.

My question is: is this normal? I do go to the gym a couple of times a week and I have been doing a bit of weight training (trying to master pull ups!) so this really took me by surprise. I cut my calories then slowly began back at the gym to see what I could handle on a lower food intake. All seemed to be going well until yesterday!

Just curious if others have found this, and was it a one off or will it happen again? Yes, I do expect definite answers ;o)) In the meantime I'm hiding the noodles.

Thanks, Hopefullyoneday1 - I'm still eating carbs, just less of everything overall. Actually, mainly less chocolate and chocolate related items...I just wanted to see how I got on with less calories. My workouts (if you can call them that) are generally late afternoon/early evening and I have my evening meal fairly soon afterwards, and this always includes carbs. Yesterday, I'd had my evening meal, and my snack later, and yet...this craving hit me like...a great bit hitty thing.

I think what I struggle with is the right combination of everything. Am getting there though.

Thanks for your advice - I'll make some adjustments and with luck I'll find the next class easier and won't spend the latter part of the evening face down in a bowl of noodles.....

I would also add, if your weight training you need to up your intake not lower it. Lifting on a calorie deficit is not fun, you will feel like s**t, have dizzy spells and generally cause your muscles to eat themselves up.

Upping your intake wont make you fat, provided its clean and a combo of the right fats, carbs and protein

Yes its perfectly normal but you need to keep carbs in your diet and eat the right ones.

Best time to have your carbs is first thing in the morning because your body is in calorie deficit. You want a carb and protein meal. If you plan on doing morning cardio, skip the carbs and have just a small protein meal. When youve done your cardio then have your carbs

After the workout is the other time to take your carbs and this is critical because it starts the whole recovery/muscle growth process. Following a training session your body is depleted of glycogen and glucose. That's why your craving carbs. A protein shake is good or any complex carb / protein meal.
