I recently joined slimming world and am bored to tears by the meeting. The meeting lasts about an hour, about 50 mins is spent discussing each individuals loss/gain.

Are most meeting so dull?

OMG, it's not just me then, I cannot stand the meetings especially the weight loss 'bit', it's never ending, why can't they do what WW do and have 20-30 minute chat about anything but who has lost X amount or gained this last week, this is what stops me from going Sad

Well I did join (online after your stories of meetings Wink ) on your recommendations and I have lost 5lbs in 3 weeks which included 4 days of eating and drinking whatever I wanted over the jubilee weekend. So I'm very pleased - Thank you! I was looking for something sustainable, so that I can still enjoy food and drink on weekends and it seems to be working. I'm doing extra easy and finding it much easier to stick to than WW as I don't really have to think about it at all. I use some syns on things like salad dressing, butter or Philly and then usually have one glass of wine in the evening or if I've not been able to control my food that well that day, skip the wine! I always have my morning latte as one of my healthy options as i would miss that so much and usually a slice of bread or a roll as the other. I do miss bread but being able to eat pasta and rice etc. is great. I'm also eating so much more veg I've had to order a bigger veggie box delivery!

mutley1 what would you usually have on toast? You can probably have whatever you normally have just count the syns and use sparingly. I sttill have jam occasionally.

1stMrsF, I find i does require less concentration than ww, has made it easier for me to stick to.

CJ211110, good to see it's working so well for you. Please pass on any tips you have!

Hi. Thought I would join in with this thread as I also agree that I thought carbs were really bad and have spent years trying to avoid them but being really hungry and then ending up snacking. I'm doing the orange days at SW and it took me a while to get my head around it, but once I have its working for me (lost 2 stone in about 4 months) - because I'm not hungry. I have a few staple recipes that I use - and sticking to the third, third, third rule is really good and means that you don't end up having too many carbs. Anyway good luck!

cold meat
tomatoes
scrambled egg
lean bacon
you can use your allowance of cheese if you want or add the syn value

Hi All I am thinking of joining SW and have got the books that were free in the Mirror paper last month. If you're having toast in the morning what can you put on it?

This thread has been very helpful, thank you. I am thinking about joining (onine, no groups near me) as a friend has just lost 1.5st on SW. I've been on weightwatchers online for ages and find that when I stick to it, it works well, but it requires too much time and effort to stick to it, so I keep losing half a stone, lapsing for a while and putting it back on :( I'm hoping that this, with so much free food will be a bit easier to manage - that it'll require less concentration and internet time during the day. I am SAHM with 3yo twin DDs and find it hard to balance the time spent on WW with their constant demands ;) What do you think?

wow well done!

Yes I think their mantra of eat what you like of the free foods is misleading

I lost 7lbs this week!!! The difference between my first and second week is portion control.

ggirl, even though there are free foods I am trying to stick to 3 main meals a day and only snack if I have to - usually mid afternoon. I am also not having carbs with every meal. I had eggs for breakfast, will have turkey rice and veg for lunch and butternut squash soup for dinner.

Mini-milk sounds good, especially on a day like today!

I have my weigh in tonight, really hoping for a loss even if it's only small.

mini milk is a milky ice lolly in strawberry, vanilla and chocolate flavour. Great if you want abit of a chocolate fix or treat but not all the syns.

i usually measure out my milk at the beginning of the day and use about half on cereal and the rest on coffee throughout the day or if im having cheese that day i just count each dash of milk in a coffee as half a syn.

Breakfast cereal like fruit n fibre is nice with a vanilla mullerlight and fruit if ur not using your a choice on milk that day

mini milk?? whats that?

I'm in my 1st week and need all the ideas I can get.

I don't normally eat cereal for breakfast but am thinking of starting. How much of the daily skimmed milk allownce does one normally use in cereal..will there be enough left for coffees?

Hi all! well done on your losses so far! I swapped meetings as it was just useless and the motivational chat just felt forced. I also begrudged paying for the meeting when it was just "well done" or "what will you do differently next week?" and then it would finish up to 25 minutes early! I enjoy my new meeting though as they do tasters and swap recipes and dont spend an hour on each individuals loss or gain.

Anyone got any staple low syn snacks or nice foods that are on the shopping list every week?

weightwatchers sausages are only half a syn each and are really tasty and i couldnt live without my mini milk fix for 1.5syns

hmm my weight hasn't budged for a few days and it's only week one
I know I've dropped 5/6 lbs but I think I'm scoffing too many free foods.

This weekend was not good! Yesterday was my sons birthday and I had cake, quite a lot of cake and a few crisps too....will have to be super good today and tomorrow before tomorrow nights weigh in.
Have had eggs for breakfast and will have butternut squash soup for lunch and salmon for dinner - that's my plan so far anyway!

Halloween Good luck with your weight loss! Yes, week of headache tablets here :( But considering the amount of food I ate before I think my body is in shock! It probably can't cope now that I'm eating healthily, I don't think it knows what to do with proper food! :o

Oh i totally agree, i am suffering from suga withdrawal. i have popped pills all day today with a headache, didnt think it could be because of that.

My friend lost 7 stone in a year and the last 2 stone in 6 months.
she was however very religious with it, she ate loads and loads. but all free food and had 2 custard creams and a hot choccy every night. She didnt even increase her exercise for the first 6-7 months either!

she looks amazing now, and is not quite as strict. she follows it and is still losing but slower.

I would like to lose a stone by the start of the summer holidays and another 2 stone by christmas. So 3 stone in 7 months. Hoping i can do it. I need to. that will not be my end target but should give me an idea of what i am aiming for.

Just eaten a petit filous fromage frais. Feel less lightheaded. My sugar levels must be haywire :(
