Morning all - taking me a few minutes to get going, sp lease bear with me.
Looks like a snow day for me :) 8cm and still snowing - small amounts compared to many of you, but probably enough to be disruptive.

I see the snow has extended further west than the met office warnings. I would be interested in reports of snow depths to the west of the isle of Wight in the south please :)

Plenty of snow showers along the whole eastern coast (with perhaps the exception of some of norfolk)

Gatwick closed until tomorrow.

ok, off to look at the models.

It's Girl Manky's birthday party at a play centre on Saturday, and I thought looking at the forcast that over night Friday/Saturday looks bad. I hope it goes ahead!

sorry domesticsluttery - the weather is causing an awful lot of problems for so many people.

Thanks. A lot. No really.

It will probably be about -12 here again tonight (they are forecasting -8 but we are rural and inland and usually a couple of degrees lower than they forecast). And then we will have more snow.

Fan-blinking-tastic.

Domestic - you may see some more tomorrow too.

We are in mid Wales. It has been snowing again today, but then it has snowed every day since last Friday.

I'm fed up now.

Sunny afternoon here, with occasional grains of snow drifting down! Looks like we have had the last of our snow. Sad

We're on the Somerset/Dorset border and woke up to about 4 inches. And the BBC have just forecast -10 for tonight.

Getting down our steep, steep hill is going to be a challenge tomorrow morning.

Thanks OYBBK.[ I was FuriousGeorge BTW].Thank you for your weather info,I look at your threads first beore go onto the Met office or BBC weather. You are far more reliable.

I have got the door curtain up in front of our draughty front door and dd2 is happily playing with her Sylvanians and singing pirate songs.I might take my lovely neighbour up on the offer of using her washer & tumble drier.

still no idea about the weekend - there is some warmer air moving up from the south but goodness knows if it will produce snow, rain or freezing rain. I'm guessing rain in the south with the snow/freezing rain being further north. Nightmare, so if you are planning anything be aware that it could be nasty or it might not be!

Although the cold looks like it returns next week in general it looks much drier :)

It has been snowing in Leicestershire for a couple of hours, and is very heavy.DH manages a tourist attraction and had 18 people in yesterday, all the school trips cancelled. Our school in the next village has stayed open and I'm really surprised.

I had 3 pheasants hanging up in the car port and a fox has been in and dragged them down and partially eaten one,and scattered the rest all over the place. We are in a big hunting and shooting area and foxes NEVER come near houses/people,so it must have been desperate. What with a frozen washing machine, puking dd2 and now a dismembered pheasant to deal with, this has been a pretty yucky week.

oof - just got in. Lots of disgruntled children at school today. I left early (had an appointment which was then cancelled) so dh and I have been doing our neighbourly bit with the shovels and salt. Hot and tired now!

So, where are we at??

no idea about snow Kent way - one of the radar stations is down. Still some more snow in the south, the NE and a fair bit of the midlands.

We are near Maidenhead on top of a hill. Scary drive to school and nearly lost control of the car. Fortunately no other car near and managed to get it back under control before getting to a major roundabout. Will be borrowing my mum's car to do school run this afternoon!

I don't understand why quite busy roads don't appear to have been gritted. I had to drive 3 miles before I found a gritted one.
