How hopeful do you feel about your UK holiday this summer?

We're due to go to the Peak District for a SC holiday in August. I'm really hoping we can go, particularly as it would be easy to socially distance. We could even take our food for the week with us and just go walking each day with a picnic in a backpack. Anyone else feeling cautiously hopeful? We've had to cancel two holidays already (Easter and May half-term), so this could be the only one we get to take.

I'm not holding out hope for our Bluestone break the first week of the summer holidays. If they did what Haven are doing and allow people with already booked breaks to use the facilities that would be amazing but as it's Wales I doubt it.

Really hoping our Christmas break at Ribby Hall goes ahead.

Not even considering it this year. Next year will be soon enough.

I have air b&b booked for mid August Im still hopeful it’s 300 miles away so if they go ahead and open pubs etc on 4th July as I keep hearing then I will go but if things are still the way they are now then I will cancel end of July

But they are all residents of Spain who have been properly isolating for 8 weeks.

Here, near Valencia half the bars are open with less then half the tables outside with half again punters.

I won't be going any time soon.

I'm sure there will be a second wave though. I am not being ageist, I am stating a fact when I say that everything is very busy with older ladies out with their friends, not properly socially distancing.

Be interesting to see what happens in Spain. The bars in Benidorm are open at the moment and seem pretty busy with British ex pats.

I’m fairly hopeful of going on our UK holidays this year.

We have a week in August booked in Cornwall (Self-catering, holiday park). I really would like to be able to use the facilities eg indoor pool, bar, restaurant, and if we can’t, it won’t be quite the same.

Also, we enjoy eating out in local pubs, cafes (cream teas!) and again, if I have to prepare and cook all meals, not sure if it’s worth going as having a week with no cooking is heaven to me.

Also, got a break booked at Centerparcs later in the year. I would imagine that is doubtful in their usual format. They’ve sent surveys out to see if people would be happy with reduced facilities, eg no pool, at reduced price, and I said no to that. I’d rather wait until next year tbh.

It’s a case of watch this space regarding UK holidays I think.

I'm cautiously hopeful about our holiday to Devon in August, and taking heart from the fact that it is three months away. We could also take our own food. The accommodation is a group of cottages on a farm, so that may make the owner more reluctant to open than if it were a single cottage. We've been told not to pay the balance until three weeks before the holiday. Check-in time is normally 2:30; perhaps it will be later to allow for extra cleaning.

Yes, @SailingAwayIntoSunrise, you're right. If countries immediately get a flare up of infections every time they exit lockdown none of us will be going anywhere. The uncertainty about everything is the hardest thing, I find. No one can make any plans.

I think before anyone can really say if they will or won't go ahead (that includes you too @TinRoofRusty Wink) is how the world copes with the loosening of the restrictions.

We’re due to go on holiday in August in the U.K. with my parents. We tend to stick to outdoor things as we have children with disabilities and don’t tend to eat out as one has coeliac disease so very limited on where we can eat. I do worry about taking my parents with us. But we’ll see. Air bnb hasn’t cancelled yet but who knows what will happen in August.

I'm going to The Highlands in July having cancelled my trip there in April. I visit my elderly aunt daily when there and stay in a caravan site nearby. As aunt is shielding and Nicola probably doesn't want me there I think I'll have to cancel again. Plus I'm flying up, and staying in a caravan, and the thought of the germs in both of these is unsettling me. It's a bugger!

We tend to have our big holiday in November ( to go home for thanksgiving) and another one in December (so's parents live in Australia) so we are still optimistic that we can go.

I've given up on the idea.

It was to be 11 days in mid and north Wales, but even if the airbnbs say it's ok to go, the possibility of places still being closed, having to queue for groceries, different rules in Wales and now, apparently, the locals potentially being unpleasant to tourists means that I don't want to go.

The saved money will go on a holiday abroad next year most likely.

I don’t know. Had hoped to be in wales for a few days with family, but who knows...
We should be in NZ seeing our family and friends but can’t see Uk visitors will be welcome there for some time... :-(

The only thing we have is a festival booked in August, in Wales so under current restrictions we wouldn’t actually be allowed to travel there. It’s still technically going ahead but I highly doubt it will. Honeymoon which was June 8-21 has already been cancelled Sad

I have certainly not lost the plot. I'll be in my pool having a lovely summer after 8 weeks of not being to go to my house and locked up in a rented flat in Spain.

I'll isolate there and will be nice and safe when the second wave strikes.

Hopefully the beach may open soon.

Which airline are you flying with @TinRoofRusty

We've booked an Airbnb in Dorset for early aug as given up on our Mallorca hol in July. All we want is seaside and country walks, it would be nice if pubs were open but I doubt it by then.

We've a family meet up planned in accommodation in England. The people meeting up are from Scotland and Ireland though, so I would doubt we'd be able to go even if the cottage is open (and then I won't get my money back)

No, ineed.

I can't help but feel a little pleased they've found joy in all of this shit.

Wonder how much joy they'll feel when the money dries up. That's beyond fucked up.

I definitely haven’t lost the plot over this TinRoofRusty Hmm I just asked where you are going. We were supposed to be visiting relatives in NZ - it’s not losing the plot to say it really doesn’t look like it’s going to be happening...
