Planning a couple of nights here and would love personal suggestions of 4/5* hotels. It's for 2 adults and 2 kids so ideally a suite or interconnecting rooms, central location. TIA. Smile

The Sheraton on Lothian Road, Crowne Plaza on Royal Terrace.
Hotel Indigo have a few hotels round the city centre.
Marriott have opened a new one at Picardy Place too.

Thank you, which of those do you think has the best location?

For me and my family, we could not fault The Edinburgh Residence. All of the rooms are suites and breakfast is served in the seating/lounge area within the room so no concerns about children disturbing other diners. Hotel is in a gorgeous part of Edinburgh about 5-10 min walk to Princes Street. Valet parking offered free if you are taking your car.

The Radisson Blu on the Royal Mile is lovely and the staff are great. There is a swimming pool, sauna and fitness centre which you can use. There were lots of families staying while we were there so I think they must have family suites or interlocking rooms. It is very central too, just 6 minutes walk from Princes Street or the National Museum in the opposite direction.

Another vote for Sheraton. Or the witchery or Prestonfield house.

We stayed in some really shit (and expensive) accommodation in Edinburgh in June. If the Radisson Blu is anything like the one we stayed in when we went to London It would be a good bet. I wish we had stayed there instead.

Not central but an easy journey in is Dalhousie Castle. Absolutely amazing.

How old are the kids? We recently stayed at tiger Lilly and loved it, but if the kids are young or you're going specifically at the weekend ( It's the sort of in place in Edinburgh) I wouldn't recommend it. However the location is excellent as is the service. It's a couple of.mins up from princess street.

I'd note though that Edinburgh hotel pricing is in the same range as London.

Balmoral is excellent and right in the thick of things or try Old Town Chambers for fab location and luxe, boutique apartments.....

Hotel Indigo was OK but small rooms, big groups in restaurant, perhaps bit disappointing.

Used to love the Scotsman, which has great rooms but now it has changed hands and no longer has the brasserie and spa/swimming pool is not so good.

Radisson Blu is good but not ultra luxury. Very central location.

Sheraton OK pool but unless you upgrade you dont get full access to the hot tub and indoor outdoor pool, rooms OK. Not quite so central as Radisson Blu. Good cocktails and gin range.

Thanks everyone, really hopeful. Want to book it this week and it doesn't include a weekend or school holidays. Kids are 19 and 14 so need a suite or interconnecting rooms. My older daughter has special needs so staying centrally makes it easier all round.
