Lljkk I went for the old bakery as the windmill was full for one of the nights we wanted. But we are allowed to eat at the windmill so looking forward to it! Thanks for the tip off!

Bird watching can be brilliant here, too, but may not be your thing. Cley Marshes good as both scenic & great for birding.

There's a B+B inside Cley Windpump, that's quite a scenic place to stay. My uncle & aunt loved it.

If you're fixed on this area then I'd think about doing what you can uniquely do here. May I suggest hiring some kayaks & exploring the Broads? Down waterways where no motorboats allowed. Canoeman is said to be good.

I know lljkk but I want coast and haven't ever ever been to east Anglian coast.

Child free I wouldn't go to East Anglia.
I'd go to the Lake District & hit some mountains.
Or Peaks/Dales if Lakes are too far.
Or even moors rambling on the downs further south.

The Moorings in Blakeney does excellent food, too.

In fact if you eat at the White Horse make sure it is the f/t chef not the cover on the head chef's night off. My family had a v bad experience this winter on the Chef's night off. (Monday)

That bit of coast road is my favourite. Dh takes me for drives along it when I need cheering up

It is really lovely, we like to watch kids playing in the mud along the quayside, they get absolutely filthy but wouldn't fancy taking ours back into the hotel in that state. Click the 'children' link on their site to see what I mean.

The tide comes right in so it has the feel of a very quiet, very English seaside village.

You can also crab on the quayside if the fancy arises or just watch others having a go!

Not far from Cley (Bird reserve with great boardwalks) and excellent bookshops to browse in.

The George in Cley is good.
Hoste Arms - a bit up its own arse but I do love Burnham Market. Lovely rooms, nice food.

You could try the George in Rye? Have only walked past it myself, but their website makes it look lush.
