Going to Robin Hoods Bay again. Am so excited. I love it there.

Plus the cottage we're staying in is next to the sea/cliffs and has a little sun house at the top you can sit in and watch the waves. Nice open fire. Terrace with sea view, as have most rooms.

Dcs love it there too and Dp is beside himself. We don't live that far away tbh as are in the north but the thought of a whole week there, away from it all is blissful. It's like stepping back in time. I prefer it to going abroad. Ok so the weather isn't guaranteed but it's so steeped in history and just great Smile

I think the owners of the cottage may have to eject me it looks so cosy.

RHB for anyone who doesn't know it.

We'll travel outside of RHB too, go off to Whitby and places. Definitely visit Staithes.

RHB is so hilly that I get a work out as well as a holiday. I don't feel as guilty drinking ale as I burn off the calories Wink

I;ve heard about the moisturiser working but didn't know there's a spray. Is that the skin so soft range too?

Oh midges are bad aren't they? We go camping so have to suffer them a lot. The avon spray is about the only thing that seems to work?

Yep, we've had it too, enough for a nice bit of snowman building but the pavements are a wee bit slippery now.

Not sure where we're going to go this year for our hols - might venture as far a Scotland, maybe on the coast somewhere as DH is paranoid about the midges.

Yes Jammy that hill would be interesting in the snow.
Talking of which it came down heavy here. Dp and I were out shopping and it was tricky driving home.

There were people the appeared to regularly head there for Christmas, looking through the guest book. I bet it looks fantastic with snow over the rooftops, though getting up that hill would be interesting!

Am trying to talk dp into going for Christmas this year, too. It'd have to be somewhere that takes dogs though.

Meant to say I think that's why they like old historic places. They'd shun a theme park in favour of RHB and suchlike.

Sounds lovely Jammy. It's great for little ones. Mine are older and love it too. I think it may be because they were weaned on NT and English heritage from babies. DS2 was in a castle at 6 days old (in sling). They both love visiting them still now.

We had a week there the summer before last and stayed in the town itself at the bottom of the hill, and had a great time! We loved the beach with the sand and rock pools and fossils (something to keep all of us happy) and the town itself is lovely. Loved trips into Whitby too.

We've not been abroad in about 5 years. While the boys are small we figured all we need is a nice beach and a few ruined castles to run round, plus long journeys are really quite stressful.

We might venture to France or Germany next year but mainly as we have friends out there. Still plenty of bits of the UK we've never visited!

Have you been to the Whitby Wizard? It's a tiny hands on science experiments place for kids, and if you get the guy talking who owns it he will tell you all about his arctic exploration.

When I say it is tiny, there is only one room but he has a lot of stuff in there. My kids love it, we should go there again thinking about it!

Love RHB and Whitby. Have you walked through Mulgrave Woods at Sandsend? Very, very lovely.

And Durham is fab, of course. Biased a bit, mind...

Yes thanks we love the Humble pie and mash, did you know dogs are allowed in there too? Makes a nice change Smile I've been to Whitby lots as don't live that far, around 47 miles.
perplexed Grin at your brother. He should do a pastry course if he likes it so much? I feel the secret is to put lard in it and a good quality one too.

ooogs I am in Cornwall too but from Yorkshire originally - my Mum is still up there!

Oh I am jealous - my Godmother had a cottage in RHB that my patents and grandparents used to take me on holiday to. Then me, my brother and our friends used to go. Then dh and I used to go Wink and finally I was able to take my children Grin. Sadly she doesn't have it any more as I loved going there - the cottage was over 4 floors with one room on each floor. We slept in the attic and listened to the seagulls on the roof.

Have a splendid holiday Grin
