Bike for 3 year old

Can anyone recommend a good bike or any good tips for my 3.5 year old to learn to cycle please.

He had a hand me down balance bike but never fully got to grips with it. It wasn't in the best condition and I think was a bit small for him, he's v tall. Now want to teach him a proper one with pedals. Don't want to spend loads but also don't want to buy rubbish.

Thank you!

When we moved our ds from balance bike at 3.5 years old to a 'real' (and bigger) pedal bike, we removed the pedals initially so that he could get used to the balance, brakes, etc. before that final step of pedalling. I agree that second-hand is a good idea if you can find one!

BikeClub is good. You rent the bike and then they swap if when they outgrow it. If you get the right sized bike then you can take the pedals off really easily so he can practice balance. Then put them back on once he’s got the hang of balancing

You can rent from Bike Club. Monthly subscription or Facebook market for a used bike.
They say kids who use a balance bike pick up riding quicker

Highly recommend and islabike as they are very lightweight and therefore much easier to handle. They are expensive however but you can pick them up second hand on marketplace / eBay - occasional bargains if you keep and eye out and are prepared to travel a bit.

Get one off Gumtree/Marketplace.

They grow out of them so quickly. Save your ££ for when they can cycle and really need a decent bike.
