Please tell me the best scooter for a 4 yr old

Dd is 4 in a few weeks and I'd like to get her a scooter. She already has a 3-wheel scooter with the Tweenies on it, which she loves using, but it's a bit cumbersome and slow. I'd like to get her something a bit more grown up, but there seems to be so much choice and I don't know where to start. 2-wheel or 3-wheel, mini micro, folding, plastic or metal. Any advice please on what is likely to be a good investment that she'll enjoy using for some time to come. Thanks!

We got DS the mini micro scooter when he was 3 and he is still using it now - does 'tricks' on it and goes really fast. We are getting the larger size one - Maxi micro scooter soon. I think that, although they are expensive, they are good value as ours is used daily. They give a better smoother and faster ride than the cheapy ones with two wheels.

I guess it does depend upon how often it would be used - daily for the school run and then at weekends would make it reasonable. We took ours on holiday and went to Silverstone where we pulled him along on it around the paths. We then went to another relatives house and he scooted all around the local parks. It also has the advantage that the handle comes off for easy transportation!

ds2 has the mini micro which he loves, but i think he secretly covets ds1's 2 wheel scooter! he got the mini micro when he was 3, and it was definitely the right choice and will last hnim for a whilke

but if i was buying for a 4 yr old i think i would get a 2-wheeler. we got this one for ds1 which is really nice.

Thanks for the advice. We were at a friend's house today and her ds had a mini micro which she said he loved. Dd isn't fussed yet about two or three wheels so it might be the safest option. Wondering if they come in a colour like red that ds could later use if dd wants a 2-wheeler next year!
