I've got the chance to part loan (1-2 days per week) a lovely horse 16.3 I want a confidence giver as I haven't ridden for many years. I have no idea what I need to do/ go about loaning a a I have never done it before. What should I do on the first meeting? She has asked if I want to ride but at the first meet I think I'd rather watch how she does things, I'm not even sure I remember how to tack up! Actually should I be loaning at all or do I need a few lessons on tacking up etc? Help!

I'd get some lessons first .

Definitely get some lessons first and get some hands on time with horses on the ground too. 16.3 is a big animal to be getting groomed and tacked up if you are a bit rusty.

Sounds stupid but I don't have and horsey friends, how do I get practice tacking up. Do riding lessons cover that. I'm a bit embarrassed to help at a riding school. Blush

Find a school and have a few private riding lessons and tell them you want to tack up ,untack etc as part of the lesson .

Callum park would probably be able to cater for what you need .
