Ofsted... what happens when I'm off sick?

I've been signed off with wrs and I'm leaving the school at Easter. Ofsted are due this week but I've been removed from the staff email list so I won't receive any of the emails relating to ofsted.

I want the opportunity to contribute my experience through the staff survey that I believe ofsted send out. I think my school have deliberately removed me from the mailing list to stop my receiving the ofsted survey. What can I do?

To be fair to your school, removing you from the mailing list could be a genuine attempt to improve your work-related stress while you are signed off.

It will only be possible to access the survey via the link distributed by the school. You could email the headteacher or their PA to request a link to the survey but you would be wise to check with your union rep if doing so could jeopardise your sick pay.

I don't think they're going to send me the link. They probably don't want me filling it in as I have not had a good experience at the school.

You can just email Ofsted directly to share your views. Explain your role with the school, put the school name and inspection date on, ask for the email to be passed to the inspectors. Send it through the main email address on their website.

Just contact Ofsted directly.

School will say they've removed your email address to release stress, it looks thoughtful on their part, but if you've had a rubbish time of it with them all of us who have been in your shoes before will know the real reason. It's sneaky. Don't let them get away with it.

You really be receiving emails when you’re off sick - not ones that are asking you to do things, but ones that keep you in touch with what’s going on in school. As a paid member of staff, the school have a duty to send you that link. Email school, and if not, you could contact OFSTED directly?

School never sent me the link for the staff survey but my colleague forwarded it to me...
