Returning part-time - TLR?

Hi all. I am returning to work from adoption leave in December and have just had my part-time request approved. I am going in to discuss this with the Head next week but wondered what will happen to my TLR - will it be pro rata like my salary and if so should I have fewer responsibilities and will my management time be pro rata as well? I've looked in the Teachers Pay and Conditions document but can't find any reference to responsibilities and management time in this case. Any thoughts would be gratefully received!

It usually is but I managed to persuade my head to pay me the full amount as I was doing the full job. I think often they just don’t realise the inequality so it’s always worth asking.

It is a shame it is pro-rata'd as you will still be expected to do the full list of tasks

Yes, I can confirm it’s pro rata. I’ve done the same amount of work for my role on 0.6 of the pay for the last 2 years. I naively hoped someone might be offered part of the TLR as a bit of responsibility incentive but no.

It’s really frustrating, but yes, mostly the TLR is also part time pay (with no reduction in responsibility). It’s worth asking your head though - I do know people who’ve negotiated full time TLRs and at one school I managed to negotiate not having a form in order to make more time available for the TLR.

Depends on level of TLR. TLR3 cannot be Pro rata but the other levels can. Look at NEU website, loads of info on there about pay.

I'm a part time TLR holder. The TLR is pro-rataed even though I'm still responsible for the whole job.

We have three HoDs who are part time.

And yes, in many schools you'd be expected to give up the TLR.

TLRs would be part time pay too, but generally you'd still be expected to do the full role because no one else is going to do the rest for you.

Tlrs are quite often just taken away if you go part time. Wrong but it happens.
