Argh. Not keen on the DC's teacher

I teach in Scotland so we've been back a few weeks now. I've been teaching 12 years. DC is in P2 and I'm very dubious about how they are being taught this year. To add to that, his teacher is on a FB group and I'm on and is a very prolific poster... it's all just very awkward all around.

When do you put up and shut up and when do you go and see them?

It depends what the problem is. Is it the Facebook thing or is it something specific to do with her teaching. It's still pretty early in the term, maybe her methods are just different from yours?

Her methods are very different to mine. They were doing the ae split digraph, so they all made elaborate pictures of cupcakes, for example... more art than literacy. I’m reading that and it sounds very petty, but when DC came home, they really hadn’t revised the ae at all, just farted about with glitter.

Not to sound rude....but it is so easy to critisize another teacher, give her a chance.

If he doesn't make progress, go in and have a chat. If you just don't like her style, stay quiet! She might be more effective than you realise.
