Exam marking support thread

Is anyone else going through the hell of marking exam papers?!

I actually want to stick pins in my eyes :D

Perhaps I should have rephrased that Rosieposy4. I wouldn't feel comfortable marking the GCSE paper(s) that dd has taken and having access to the mark-scheme, given that she just wants to forget about them to results day. She is unlikely to take my subject at A level.

Can I just whether you need to have a PGCE to mark exams? I was planning to e-mail AQA to ask the question at the start of next term but you guys may be able to give me the answer now. I have been teaching AQA GCSE Biology in a FE college for 3 years - I have completed the PTLLS and CTLLS courses and I have a degree and PhD in biology but I decided not to start my PGCE until my youngest goes to school. Marking or moderating would be great experience for me but I have always assumed that you need a PGCE.
