I teach upper KS2 in Suffolk. I am also the maths co-ordinator and SENCO.

Currently on a career break but looking forward to getting back to it in 18 months or so. Was HOD (PE), then HOY and switched subjects to English and RE. Various other roles along the way.

I really hope your theory of impeding doom about new starters is wrong. I've had two new arrivals announced in two days and still have spaces when other schools around are full.

Secondary Science teacher in North Yorkshire. We've had the kids in since Tuesday so have met all my classes now. There was only one class that I thought but I'm sure I'll soon lick them into shape .

My own DD has just started school (reception) and has cried lots so it has been a long week. I was so tired last night!

Dangerous position to be in, clam. Cos the newbies are rarely stars! (Or I could just be unlucky).

2 years ago my class was all change - through the year 3 kids left and 5 new ones arrived.

This year, I'm full. So unless anyone leaves, I won't get any surprises. :)

Maths teacher returning after 7 years as a SAHM. Scary! Smart boards don't work in the same way and I am failing at using it properly. Oh well!

end of week 1 and all quiet in class- had a nightmare class last year so this quiet, well behaved polite manner is strange! I know it is a honeymoon period, but I don't think I even had one of those last year so things may be better.

I do like the start of term- filled with good intentions!

Second that Twyll-I had an email from a student who did A2 with my last year thanking me for getting him through 6th form and telling me how much he appreciated it. Makes it all worthwhile. [smile}
