Troll - really nasty posts

I've reported the two posts I've seen by yourusername12345678910 in Parenting and Relationships. Both on threads where the OP is somewhat vulnerable and emotional. There might be more. Anything else that can be done?

OP posts:

The thing is with this one partiacally there was things that a bitter teenager, or quite honestly a bitter 30 something would say. It wasn't until we'd engaged and the posts got more rediclous, like I have 56 kids which became well I don't have any but just being near children is the same as parenting. That I went ok genuine troll.

Rather than genuine person who doesn't understand and won't listen and trust me I've encountered that kind of person in real life!

Fair enough - I didn't see it happen, I just followed the link posted above and read the first one I came to, which seemed to have posters arguing with the troll with the occasional post to the poor OP.

In an ideal world, troll posts would go completely unremarked upon, with lots of reporting in the background, while posters would continue to support the OP. But I realize it's never that simple, and human nature makes people want to jump in and defend or attack.

Looks like they've gone for now anyway. Do people really have nothing better to do?

What is the correct protocol for this kind of thing? I can see why MN don't like trollhunting, but it was a very obvious troll targeting vulnerable posters and it took a long time for the posts to be removed (realise it was the early hours of Sunday morning).

I think most posters engaging with the troll were just trying to support the OP.

I can't believe MNHQ were so slow to deal with that - did those posts stay up overnight? Surely with such an obviously prolific troll, the deletion should be pretty quick once the reports come flooding in?

Looking at one of the threads, it does look like the respondents on the thread fed the troll by replying and engaging with them. Bit foolish IMO.

When that happens, those engaging with the troll are as responsible for the derailment as the troll is, with the poor OP being forgotten about! Just ignore the troll and engage with the OP FFS!

Yea I think your right that was she/he.

It's seems they think it's a game and like we can't get rid of them because she/he kept say 'i never sign in with the same username twice or can I come back and play'

He/she has probably already created a new profile and watching their drama now

Was she the one either 42 kids. I saw here on 3 different threads, not realising they were zombie threads from 2010, she was a right one, wasn't she?

I stand corrected, they are all gone thank goodness.

Albeit glacially slowly....only a few are gone.

merrymouse · 06/12/2015 08:18

looks as though posts are being dealt with now

Not sure you can - you can hide a thread though. There really needs to be some auto provision for hiding a poster who's trolling completely though- in this instance the poster must have been reported dozens of times in the space of a few hours. Ideally an automatic hide should kick in at least till someone can look things over. The abortion posts are vile. It's not a kid, it's some adult with severe problems, probably a PBP.

Candlefairy101 · 06/12/2015 07:58

How do you hide a post? Just for future reference

Report
Candlefairy101 · 06/12/2015 07:19

I'm trying to report every post I see them write on.

I've only been on mumsnet since the summer and have never seen this before, what does one get out of being so cruel? I genuinely don't understand it!

Ha I have angered it. Oh well. I would rather the hate was directed at me than those who could be upset by it.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 06/12/2015 07:12

what happened to the night patrol... people who could hide posts and threads until MNHQ could look?

Report
Rosa · 06/12/2015 07:12

The abortion thread is the worst...

I've just posted on the labour thread to try and drown it out a bit, poor woman coming back to that sort of bile on such an important day for her.

Arkkorox · 06/12/2015 06:54

And now on an early pregnancy thread. I hope someone from HQ can stop this troll before it causes any more upset
