The litter tray

She has gone

Puss was put to sleep at 5:10pm

She was 22 years old

My heart is breaking

My hard biker husband is in pieces

She is now under the bench in the garden next to her sister who passed away three years ago at the age of 19.

Puss was the best cat ever - she didn't have a nasty bone in her body. She was surround by small children ( I am a childminder) and she loved being fussed and picked up by toddlers. She loved curry - the spicier the better. She slept with her hooman - her hooman has autism and global delay and is only a couple of years older.

Her litter tray and feed bowls are still in situ

Can't bring ourselves to sort them out yet

Can't stop crying

She was only a fucking cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for all your kind words

I have been off grid for the weekend (family wedding in Bonnie Scotland)

Her hooman is still not back from her holiday but she does know. Because of her condition she will be flicking through her 'file' of emotions to find the appropriate one. Laughing when told something really awful is a usual response.

DH and I have missed Petal desperately - we pass her room on the way to the loo and always pop our heads round the door to check on her. Today we got back from the wedding and we both sat quietly on the way home and suddenly we both said 'hope Petal was good for L ( a friend who feeds her). It was surreal when we got through the door - she wasn't sat at the top of the stairs demanding her tea and then sitting with her back to us to show us she was pissed off we left her.

We are still grieving for the old girl

I think it's going to take us a while

She is beautiful.

They're never 'just a cat' or 'just a dog'. They're family.

Sending you love and hugs. 💔

Sorry for your loss - and

how does her human cope? DS (also autistic) would be highly stressed.

I'm so sorry op. I read your previous post and was so happy when you told us she didn't need to be pts. Petal knew you loved her it was obvious you are a caring and loving owner. Flowers

I am so, so sorry. What a lovely cat Petal was in every way. Don't berate yourself for crying for her. She was your friend for 22 years. Of course, you are heartbroken.Flowers

I hope it is some comfort to know that you gave her a happy life and a peaceful ending.

How lucky you were to have found each other. The really gentle natured cats are just irreplaceable I think. It's so tough losing a treasured pet. X

Definitely not "just a cat".

Am in tears at the thought of her being buried with treats and her bowl. How wonderful!

Take care. x

I'm so sorry for your loss. Flowers

I saw a picture of a gravestone recently, for a cat named Dewey, and the quote on it was beautiful. Something like

"He was only a cat"
But he was human enough to be a great comfort in hours of loneliness and pain.

22 years of comfort and companionship from Petal is so wonderful. How lucky you both were to be in each other's lives for so long.

Petal was a beautiful cat. You must have been a great cat guardian for Petal to get to such a ripe old age.
Grieve for as long as it takes. So sorry for you. How horrible.

Absolutely not just a cat, but a very special very much adored cat. She obviously enjoyed a lovely long life with you which is something to be proud of.

Oh I remember your posts from earlier in the week. I'm so sorry, I hoped she would have a little longer, 22 is a fantastic age and I'm sure you have lots of lovely memories as she was clearly well loved.
It hurts when they go as they are such a big part of the family not "just a cat". Take care and RIP beautiful Petal Flowers
