Hit by a car who didn't stop :( am devastated. He was my constant companion and all we had and we loved him so much. He was irreplaceable and my home and heart are going to be so empty without him.

Just wanted to share :(

Totally agree with you about cats and bonding. They are lovely creatures and every one I've ever had has hugely appreciated human love and cuddles.

Flowers for you

One week on, I'm still so sad but the tears have stopped a bit and we are remembering the good times with him. I'm even starting to think that one day we might even have another cat, not as a replacement because he was one in a million and completely irreplcpaceable, but maybe if the right cat found us........

People who say cats are too independent and you can't bond with them as well as you can with dogs have just obviously not met the right cats!

Bouncer, it should never have ended like this, we love you so much xx

Lots of love to you and hope as time goes on it's easier for you to focus on the good times with him and not feel so devastated when you think of him xx

What a handsome cat. I love the photo - what a confident passenger he looks!

Aw he is lovely, love the badger type markings on his face.

Bless you, so many of us going through this sad journey at the moment. I am two weeks further down the line than you and I am feeling better, I am still devastated but slowly coming to terms with things. I have two other cats and am just focusing on them.

As to another cat, my feeling is that somewhere a cat is waiting, when the right time comes she/he will come to me in some way. Both my other cats are rescues, one turned up in the garden (turned out a neighbour moved and left her behind) and the other one came from a local rescue.

Lots of love to you, it is so painful to have to say goodbye and go on. xx

Oh what a lovely boy! He looks like he was having a fine time :) I hope your pictures and memories will comfort you in these coming days. I always whisper a little prayer to send pets on their way...Fly your soul to the arms of the Goddess and know those who love you, remember you..xx

He didn't have a great life before he came to me, his previous owner found him as a stray kitten and took him in but unfortunately, although I definitely think he loved him, he could barely look after himself, and Bouncer spent a year being fed on curry and chips etc. Took me months to get him fully healthy when I got him home. I've had the best 4 1/2 years with this little guy :)

Hopefully here is a picture of him on our last car journey ( Droosie is lovely - what gorgeous colouring.

I didn't consider that maybe they weren't aware that they hit him. It would be easier if they didn't. The people who found him on the pavement (half under a hedge) were lovely. From where he was found, it would seem that he was either flung there by the force of the impact or died very very soon afterwards, he hadn't even tried to head towards home (which was just a few doors away).

Our cat was killed a few months ago and it is so shocking, I really feel for you. He was also an absolute character and I thought dd's heart would break when we told her Sad

I don't know if it will make you feel any better but the driver may not have even known they hit your lovely boy. I killed a fox the other night (saw it dash out but absolutely no chance to stop) - I stopped as soon as I could and turned and went back and it was already dead. It happened in an instant and if I hadn't by chance seen a glance of movement out of the corner of my eye I wouldn't have even known and foxes are much bigger. I'm sure with your lovely boy was instant and it may well be the driver didn't even know rather than didn't care.

So sorry for the loss of Bouncer, he sounded wonderful.

I am so sorry and I can really relate as my beloved 7 year old cat Droosie was killed on 21st June. Like your cat she was hit by a car but I am comforted that she died instantly.

I was so so lucky though in that the woman in the car behind stopped and knocked on doors until she found me. She and another lady then wrapped my darling Droosie in a bag and bought her round to me so I didn't have to go through the agony of wondering why she did not come home and then find her. I will never be able to thank these two angels enough for their kindness that day.

Bouncingbelle I am just going to tell you what my vet said when I took Droosie's body in. She was lovely to me and said that they see this a lot. Cats very rarely survive being hit by cars these days as modern vehicles are so fast. They are almost always killed outright,

She also said to remember all the good things and in your case I would be focusing on the fact that you gave your boy a lovely home when he needed one and that he had a fantastic life with you where he was loved. Many cats live longer lives and don't know a quarter of the love you gave your boy.

It's hard though I know, I miss my Droosie more than I can adequately put into words. She was one of a kind.

Her photo is below....

I am so, so sorry about Bouncer. What a brilliant cat he sounds; a real character. I also have a rescue cat, so I can imagine how devastated you are feeling :( I am so sorry it had to end like this. It does sound like it was very quick indeed, bless him. He was very lucky to have such a loving owner and you obviously gave him a wonderful life. I would also love to see a picture of him. Which rescue was he from? What was his story before coming to you?

Oh I do hope it was quick pirate cat. His name was Bouncer (outs self) and he even had his own fb page and over 70 messages of condolence when I posted that he had died. Everyone knew him, he used to follow me to the shop and sit outside the door meowing at me not to forget cat treats

Although not my first cat, he was my first rescue cat and, though I'm sure right now I simply could not replace him, if I were to ever get another cat, I would go for a rescue for sure. If I think about it, we did give him a lovely life, but he gave us so so much more.

same here pesto, we keep getting them, not to fill the gap exactly but for what we know we can give them, and then of course what they return to us.

I agree with them not really knowing what has happened op, they are so little compared to a car. I unfortunately witnessed one of mine. It was instant.

I don't share that to upset you, but to hope you will believe it, and that there would have been nothing you could have done.

what was his name? xxx

So sorry to hear this, our cat was run over last October & I thought my heart would break too.

Then DD2 said crying wouldn't help him & chivvied me into getting another rescue kitty asap. It wasn't that we wanted to replace him, more that we wanted to give another rescue cat a home and a new lease of life.
