my girlie loves her fishing rod thing. she has completely decimated the fish and it's no longer attached to the stringGrin do.now she just plays with the string on a stick.

she has rattly balls and a feathery hessian thing but since i got her this string on a stick she isn't interested in anything else!

will she get bored just playing with the same toy?

what are your best toy suggestions? shop bought or homemade? Smile

My cat loves her kat tickler - plays with it every night when we go to bed and some morning. She also likes her kickaroo and loves stealing straws from my drink to play with.

Her absolute favourite? The dog. He's a chihuahua, smaller than her, and I'm not sure that she actually knows he's a dog...but she torments him, jumps out at him unexpectedly and rolls about on the floor with him. It is very funny. Other dog (bigger), watches in disgust Grin

Laser pen is top toy
Ping pong balls, when we fish them back out from under the sofa where he puts them
Fishing rod, as toys and also as a comfort toy which he drags around and goes to sleep with
Also, sadly, any unwary birds he catches and kills. But he is not allowed to bring prey into the house to play with. Little sh#t plays with them in full view of the living room window instead.

Things On A String On A Stick are very popular here, especially if they involve feathers which he can rip off. MIL brings these from a pet shop near them and they last about 3 days...

My mum bought him a length of upholstery cord from a fabric shop and it's his all-time favourite toy - he carries it about the house with him.

My cat loves eating those rubber bands, so I hope your cats stash were au naturel, and not encased in anything redruby
:)

Our cat loves cheap long straws, cheap craft Pom poms, especially if they're sparkly, fishing rods which have been refitted with feathers from the park.

And string, any kind of string - she loves to eat it, and it's pretty horrific if it dangles.... Boke.

She also loves her cheese wedge, and any kind of tunnel.

But mostly she loves playing fetch with her little pom pom balls, or jump with the fishing rods, or chase with the straws, or tear around with the laser pointer.

One of my old cats used to walk up and down the road retrieving the elastic bands the postman dropped. I found a stack of them behind a cupboard once.

The plastic bits out of kinder eggs, ours has 4 on the go, won't play with anything we buy her!

My hair bobbles/bands. And my boys little bouncy balls. Cat goes bonkers in the hallway with those

Mine both love playing in cardboard boxes & large paper bags.

Little mouse toys are VERY popular here: I got these ones this morning & the boys, having played with them independently on & off all day spent a happy half hour before their tea chasing after them as I lobbed them about the hall for them. The game only stopped because my joints were protesting too much for me to continue...

Mr Nijinsky loves toys made from sisal while Mr Balanchine has a particular fondness for pom-poms.

Both of them love the Sticks With Things On A String sort of toys. Because of my wonky joints I can't always manage to play with those so I got a wee cuddly duck on elastic that you fix to the doorframe each time.

Lots of my cats' toys were hand-me-downs (paw-me-downs?) from friends' cats. They weren't too fussed about the kickeroo though it does get played with, but the various jingly mice from the same parcel are much loved.

It's good to swap toys in & out when you check them over to be sure they're still safe as that way they seems Fresh And New - though leaving any Special Favourites in the mix all the time so the moglets don't get upset by their having vanished...

New potatoes, they roll un-evenly and moves about more than a round ball which is apparently very cheeky of them.

Tail feathers, I pick them up if I see them. People must think I'm weird.

A pen/stick sliding from under an opened out magazine or newspaper. You have to be quick or he gets your hand though.

A spring from an old Hoover - he loved it and would retrieve it from under sofas, behind curtains etc and if he couldn't find it he would yowl until we hunted it down and handed it back.

A bloody spring I tell ya! Hmm

Ours both like a long ribbon from a chocolate box, one likes chasing finger shadows and both like 'mousey' www.petsathome.com/shop/catnip-felt-friend-by-petstages-106851 which is about as long as they are and is great when they're in a disemboweling mood. (Much better then having my arm shredded Grin)

I have a cat who steals and stashes schuncie hairbands. I have watched him reach into my handbag before and fish one out. He had no way of knowing it was there so can only guess he could smell it.
Departed cat also loved them and my cousins cat does too!

H works in events and our cat is obsessed with the lanyards he brings home. Other favourites: the yellow plastic things from inside Kinder eggs, raffia mice, laser pointer and those plastic cup things you put detergent in.

My cat loves pipe cleaners and gets very excited when she sees the craft box coming down. She fishes them out with her paw and plays with them until they disappear under the fridge.

Her other favourite game is patting stuff off the table. She seems fascinated watching things fall.

Lightweight spongy balls she can dribble around the apartment. Her little pink mice which get carried around like prey then stashed. As do my rings :o

Her cat tree is her fave tho. She is like a wild monkey swinging off that ha ha.
