Hi all, I'm after some advise.
Our dog has been out of sorts since Monday.
At the beginning of the week he was off his food but still picking, but now he's on a complete food strike. Can't even tempt him with a party sausage!
He's been sick too a couple of times a day for the last 3 days.
I've looked in his mouth tonight and his gums and the roof of his mouth have turned black. He normally has healthy pink gums.
He is 2 and otherwise a healthy dog normally.

I'm just not sure if I should be taking him to the out of Joes vets or sit it out until Monday

Sorry for the late reply, I called the out of hours and they said to bring him in so it was a long night.
All is fine, he thinks he's probably just got an upset stomach, he's given him some gastro food and said to take him to my own vets on Monday if no improvement.
He's still not good today, feeling very sorry for himself, although he has had a nibble on some of the food the vets gave us so that's an improvement, and he's drinking plenty of water too.
Thanks for all your reply's, he's never been poorly like this before so I wasn't sure what to do

How is your dog doing?

The vet will always say bring them in, it's impossible to guess what's wrong without seeing them.
Have they been panting? Do they feel hot? They may have a high temp which has made them anorexic.

If he was my dog I would be phoning the out of hours vet with his symptoms for advice.

Does your vet have an emergency number you can ring and ask their advice? Doesn’t always mean your dog will have to go in.
I did this when mine ate a box of raisins.
