I wanted to raw feed... but my puppy isn't convinced.

Thinking it is the more natural way to eat, I gradually transitioned my puppy from kibble -with-some-wet-food. To raw. Initially she was very enthusiastic but over the last week she has gone off it big time.. will reluctantly eat a bit then look at me all sad. She still loves raw chicken necks but the pre prepped stuff ..nope (have ordered it as not confident at getting the balance right myself)

Had some kibble today as we were out all day with no way to store raw meat, and she gobbled it down.

I feel like I've failed at breastfeeding all over again! Is kibble really ok? Can I give her kibble with some raw treats thrown in? I know it would be easier than defrosting raw stuff (and cheaper) but I just wanted to give !

We feed barking heads kibble with lily’s kitchen meat. I can read the ingredients list and recognise every item and their coats have never been glossier.
Before we changed to this, dog one never finished a meal and begged constantly for treats instead.

I tried raw, she wouldn't eat it, ended up cooking it.

I didn’t find the natures menu sloppy , we tried a couple of varieties and I think it was the smell that put him off . As it is he will currently only eat Applaws wet food - he has expensive tastes .

Natures Menu is a bit sloppy and can be refused by dogs.

Natural instinct or nutriment may be more appreciated. You could also slightly fry the food to start with as this can increase the flavour.

It is a bit like giving toddlers a tube of pringles (kibble) and a jacket potato (raw feed) generally the toddlers will eat the pringles more than the potato even though we know the potato is healthier

I really wanted mine to eat raw but she just refused to eat it and I hated wasting the food, as it can't be left out.

She now just eats a mix of tin and dry food which she is very enthusiastic about. I think it was a mix of temperature and texture mine didn't like, we tried Bella and Duke.

I wouldn't worry too much and just feed what the dog likes. I have to tune out sometimes when other dog walkers boast about the amount of money they spend on dog food!

Yes I have natures menu and it's just slop once defrosted. Also some WolfTucker, which is better but the packaging is SO environmentally unfriendly (comes in a ton of polystyrene) I can't bear to buy more...and she's still not keen.

She is definitely fussy. I think I will try and keep SOME raw in her diet.. chicken necks etc and meaty bones when she gets better, but give her kibble most of the time. (and a bit of wet now and then).

I'm glad it's not just me. She is quite food orientated so to find her going 'ugh no thanks' was a surprise!

I initially wanted to feed kibble but my dog didn't agree and we ended up on expensive wet food.

Having a fussy dog is hard but I much prefer to see him to enjoy his food rather than it being a battle to get him to eat.

Maybe try raw again when she is a bit older to see if it becomes more palatable to her.

She may change her mind again . I have a very fussy dog and he won’t touch anything raw except chicken wings and we’ve tried lots of the premade and just meat etc . He particularly disliked the natures menu nuggets although he did at one time eat their wet food . Provided you are giving the dog a good quality food be it wet , kibble or raw that it enjoys then it’s no failure .
