This was my favourite tv as a child. I have decided to rewatch it (it's on prime). I'm half way though series one

I still love it, although time seems a little fluid there, and lots of people simple disappear!

I absolutely loved Little House on the Prairie and watched it every week as a kid. Then I saw a later episode where a really young girl is raped and has a baby and it scarred me. So out of place for that series, anyway just keep an eye out for anyone who is re-watching with their kids

OMG! Was she cowering in a barn at one stage?
I loved LHOTP as well, it was my favourite show as a child but one thing that I remember was an episode where a girl was raped. Well, I know now that it was rape but I don't think I truly understood that at the time. I just knew a man had done something bad . It's not so much that I remember the episode frame by frame but I remember how awful it made me FEEL. I still do.

I loved watching it! Also 'The Waltons'.

Baby Carrie down the well is the episode I remember the clearest (in fact I think it was two episodes?). It was so dramatic!

I loved the books and the series from about age 8-12! Similarly never watched beyond the first few to see them married etc. Loved Nellie Oleson, her terrible mum and long suffering/enabling dad. I can remember hauling a bucket around my garden pretending to be Laura. There’s some very sad episodes like baby Carrie stuck down the well, Laura thinks she’s responsible for her brother’s death so runs away, a dead girl’s mother kidnaps Laura and Caroline nearly dies of blood poisoning from a nail.

I've seen the first few seasons so many times but have never watched them grow up and get married, etc. I seem to stop when Albert comes along.
My mum used to watch it every Sunday. Some moments really stick in my mind, like Laura thinking she found gold in a stream or when baby Charles died and Laura ran away. Oh and I think Laura thought she caught rabies from a raccoon.

Baby Charles. Caroline's get pregnant, gives birth and the baby lives a few months. Carrie doesn't age a day

Series 3 and Charles hasn't raised a crop yet. He's a terrible farmer

Harsh but fair!

I loved it but it was quite sad at times. I loved Nellie and Mrs Olsen. She was a horror. The episode when Nellie met her future husband was the best ever.

You have to wonder if Nells would have made any kind of living doing business his way and how difficult life would be if they all had to get supplies from a big town instead.

We all loved Nelly in my house. Thanks OP I'll be putting this on as my background tv next week.

Albert also burned the blind school down with his discarded cigarettes and killed Mary's baby

I love Melissa Gilbert who plays Laura. She was a pretty kid who grew into a beautiful woman.

The first few seasons were best but then they ran out of original material and started inventing characters like Albert.

I'm now trying to figure out how old the characters are supposed to be in series one.

My kids are obsessed with LHOTP, didn't realise it was on prime, I know what we'll be doing this weekend now!

I loved this program.

I visited a well preserved ghost town in the USA a few years ago. It wasn't Walnut Grove but it was just like it - the wooden houses with outhouses, church, school room, grocery store etc and obviously used to be inhabited by real people. It was fascinating.

I loved it but a friend called it “Little House on the Dreary”
