She got on with it, because she had to. He left her holding the bag so she basically threw herself into rennovating the place, including doing plenty of the work herself.

This seemed to have helped her, although she never seemed as much of an alcoholic chain-smoker as he was.

By the time he came back, she was at the 'What was I thinking?' stage.

How did Dawn cope with his behaviour? I was surprised when she fell apart in an earlier episode when he pissed off. She seemed much stronger.

Yes, he went to London over Xmas, sold some stocks that had much appreciated in value, took up with another woman and never went back.

Well, he finally went back. After 8 months.

Out of concern for his 'investment'.

Did I read this right that in the last episode he left the woman!??!? I only half watched this on Fridays but it always looked good fun.

I hope it's repeated because it's too funny to miss.

I found him a hat, but he won't wear it.

Is this programme repeated this week at all... please?

This was fab, it's absence will leave a huge gaping hole in my Friday evening.

Yes, wonderful fun thanks. We went with our retired friends who are very worldly and travelled. We took DS too as it was his birthday at the weekend. The weather was wonderful and the food was wonderful and I must have put on at least half a stone

I wouldn't need much encouragement to do a runner SEA, if it was to Barcelona I love that place.

Report
southeastastra · 28/08/2007 22:07

hello moon i searched for you earlier, thought you'd done a runner

Report
expatinscotland · 28/08/2007 22:06

It's the funniest thing I've seen on in a while.

Report
themoon66 · 28/08/2007 22:06

Please tell me it's repeated this week. I've been away on holiday (in Barcelona as it happens) and I missed the last episode.

I stumbled upon this show and I'm so glad I did.

Brilliant with a glass of wine.

i couldn't stop laughing at this series. dh used to get sooooo hysterical. he said they looked like some kind of weirdo sex couple, into all sorts...not sure how he'd know..

Report
expatinscotland · 28/08/2007 22:00

It wasn't just that he wasn't hte most attractive fella, but that he was an utter twunt.

I love how at the end, Dawn was watching him from the kitchen window and said, 'Look at him. He looks like Mr Bean.'

JudgeJudyAndExecutioner · 28/08/2007 21:54

Ok he has a big nose but am I the only one to have noticed his ears? Like a baby elephant's they were...

Report
southeastastra · 27/08/2007 18:09

wish i'd seen the whole thing now, though he did look like a twat. my dp has heard of him from wasted youth.

He was a rock star, in a band called flesh for lulu

Surely you remember them from all their massive hits in the '80's?

Report
emsiewill · 27/08/2007 17:57

Yes, he was truly repulsive, although she didn't look like she was exactly best friends with a bar of soap, so I guess they were well matched in that sense.

Unfortunately, she looks a little like (and is similarly high maintenance to) my sil, so when dd1 & I are watching this, we always have a little snigger to ourselves.
