Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners on C4, anyone watching?

Oddly it seems to be about a hoarder. I've not heard of this series before.

nadia its like supersize v superslim - both have weird eating/diets and stuffing/not eating and swapping is meant to help them

those why say they clean 8hrs a day- how the hell do they find time, i work 10/12hrs a day, if i then cleaned for another eight, means i would sleep 4/6hrs a night

or do they not have jobs? therefore how do they afford all the cleaning stuff?

I thought the Aussie was a lazy baggage, tbh. I got very tired of hearing the same defence of having two children being repeated. Not that I'm unsympathetic to the problems of clean houses when you have small children but she took absolutely no responsibility herself. However, I couldn't have had the cold-eyed obsessive cleaner she was partnered with in my house either.

The pairing of Cathy and the corner shop lady looked like it genuinely benefitted the pair of them. But DP was particularly amused at how Cathy's husband was expected to sit on the sofa minus trousers though and not for the first time I found myself wondering just how the partners of these obsessive cleaners actually tolerate the bizarre practices they are required to observe.

Hayley is an utter dingbat.

Still not convinced that the principle behind the experiment will do much more than accentuate the relative problems on both sides though.

I was pleased though that Cathy decided she wasn't going to clean so much and the corner shop lady had helped her with that so they were both benefiting from the experience.

Hayley comes across as a total airhead. bleach for the gravestone. Also without being cynical won't the park become horrible again because of irresponsible people who will flytip and litter etc.

Felt sorry for the woman in Nantwich in some ways. Her partner hadn't been that supportive and having her judgey m in law. I was always cleaning and getting frustrated when my DC were young but perhaps it wasn't the best way. At least she spent time with her DC's. Does Hayley?

OCD is selective. There are no hard and fast rules. I know someone who suffers from it in terms of bathrooms and kitchens but everywhere else is chaos.

The Aussie is in denial. Surely part of looking after a 2 year old is providing a clean hygienic home for them? And the husband looks utterly mortified.

Thought the (Australian?) woman with the filthy house in Nantwich was so awful last night.

So you think having chemicals (ie. kitchen spray) in the house is dangerous but it's perfectly ok to be morbidly obese as the mother of two young children? She clearly has issues.

And when her cleaning mentor left after 3 days hard labour she couldn't even bring herself to say "thank you"! !

Hayley, cleaning her toilet, very commendable, but it's no use flushing striaght after the bleach has been poured in, let it sit for a while or it's just washed away and has no effect. And did you see the FILTH on top of the pipes around the toilet? So it's selective OCD then, just the toilet, not the rest of the room.

I completely agree Nadia. It made me feel very rather uneasy that the OCD sufferers were being portrayed as better people, that they were almost rescuing the hoarding messy people. In my eyes both groups of people need support, rather than putting them against each other which could easily exacerbate each others conditions.

I think this is typical C4 irresponsible programming. The mucky people/hoarders and the OCD cleaner types are clearly NOT helping each other. The cleaners are being very judgmental of the hoarders and giving them crazy advice - like in the first episode where the OCD guy told the hippyish antiques dealer he should be hoovering twice a day - like thats going to happen! It is just not a realistic goal for him (and shouldnt be for anyone actually) Then 'Michelle' in the next episode expained to her paired 'dirty' person that she cleaned 8 hours a day, and thought this was OK (guess she doesnt have a life outside her home, then!)

And in the episode with the woman who was hoarding cuddly toys, where she was paired with bodybuilder guy who was obsessed with straight curtains - well that was a disaster. OK, her house was quite filthy, but she was a nice person who didn't deserve to be bullied by that gorilla (too much testosterone, there I think)

What the hoarders needed was some nice sympathetic Kim-and-Aggie types.
And an explanation of a simple cleaning tidying routine they might have a chance of sticking to.

And then at the end of several programmes it turned out that the horrors the OCD-ers had encountered had made many of them even more germ-phobic. So it hadn't helped them either.

But made good (but uncomfortable) viewing, I suppose.

This program makes me feel uncomfortable, its very strange that they're using people with an illness to clean messy houses.

I love this so much. I wish I had more OC traits when it comes to cleaning. They shame me when I think about their level of discipline.

Fair play to that little blonde lady, she has been faced with the reality of her problem and has taken it on the chin.

I also love it because it motivates me to have a clean and tidy after it finishes.
