Anyone fancy joining me in living life according to Granny Murray's advice?

As of yesterday, I decided that I would endeavour to live my life according to Granny Murray's words of wisdom (childminder in CBeebies' Me Too! if you've never heard of her).

Every episode she comes out with some pleasantly obvious and trivial aphorism which the characters remember in the nick of time, and which solves all their problems.

In the absence of any other guiding philosophy/religion in my life, I have decided to live by her advice each day, and when in doubt, ask myself "what would Granny Murray do?"

Yesterday, she advised me to make the most of the sunshine. Today, it's more haste, less speed. I am surely on a fast track to canonisation if I continue to follow this path.

Anyone else fancy joining me? Or do you have another TV mentor?

Oh good that hopefully means that the admin staff at school will be all grumpy today due to all my frowning at being expected to sit at school for half an hour between parents evening appointments while dh tries to get everyone to bed. Everyone else has sibling appointments within 10 minutes, except me, frown frown!

She was talking about having more than one skill, but I think that might mean that it would be really good if I sit down and have a relax while ds is at preschool as well as tidying the conservatory!

Sometimes??? She has clearly never been to my house...

So if I don't know how to do something, it is possible so I shouldn't try, is that what she is saying. I know how to make chocolate cake, but I don't know how to make waldorf salad. Should I just eat cake forever? Is that what she is saying?

i agree. It's also more of a "something to appreciate" rather than specific advice. If someone can invent DP a memory so he wakes me at 7.30 rather than 6.30 as agreed after rather large night out I would be most grateful

well if someone accidently discovers a way to stop dh waking me up at 4am and then fidgeting until ds wakes me a 6, please let me know. Might just have to continue yesterday's advice.

Oh no, she sounds like my mother now, more pressure to get the house tidy for ds's party. It was going too be at the park but the forecast of torrential downpours makes that unlikely, so have had to wade through loads of tidying as well as usual party prep.

Hopefully she doesn't mean that the storm will turn the house into a ship and we need to be preparing to hoist the mainsail!
