What's the oldest garment you still wear?

Sparked by a friend saying her dress was "pre-kids" - her oldest is 9!

I said I had nothing still going that was that old vintage.

Thinking about it I can offer a Laura Ashley belt which must be 10 yrs old, and a Racing Green scarf which I wear daily (in winter) - lovely red cashmere. It must be old as Racing Green no longer exists AFAIK - so let's say about 10 yrs too (I bought from there a lot before DS1 was born).

Otherwise my stuff always wears out/looks tatty/gets marks on it or ripped/doesn't fit or just looks out of date (hasten to add none of thse were true of my friend's dress!). I clear out anything I've not wron for 6mo.

What's your oldest garment still worn regularly?

a knitted minidress that looks like 60s or 70s, that i got second hand in the Birmingham rag market in about 1991
i wear it as a jumper, it's fab - really big and chunky and warm, with a big hood with a tassle on

I have and still wear a pair of patent ballet shoes I swapped with a german exchange student 20 years ago - and we're still in touch. Her new red Chuck Taylors didn't fare so well...

I (over) wear a wrap skirt from the 70s that I bought for £1 from a vintage stall when I was 15 - 20 years ago. And my Wrangler denim jacket the same, although am banned from wearing this as DH says it's too scruffy due to spaces where elbows used to be.
T shirt I am currently wearing is about 17 years old I just realised.
I do have new clothes....I should add

I have a rather startling ensemble in shocking pink, with a Nehru collar. It dates from the Beatles era. Every now and then I look at it and tease myself with the idea of fitting into it.It is size 8-10. I think the UCO has more chance to be honest-it will be very, very vintage by then...

I'm typing this whilst wearing a jumper that's about 25 years old ( a little black off-the-shoulder number that's still ace!) That's not only pre-kids, but older than a few of my workmates

I have a couple of 1950's evening dresses that belonged to my Great Aunt Lucy, she had them made for her in Paris and used to wear them on cruise liners. Sadly the only outings they get now are Christmas do's at local hotels, poor frocks.

I still have a green and white Pippa Dee blouse and some floaty Indian cotton summer dresses from the 70s (and a 60s minidress and boots that will probably never fit me again!

You've just reminded me though; somewhere in the attic in a suitcase is a dress that my Mum made for me when I was little, and I kept it for my own little girl, if I should have one, which I did. It's dark blue with white daisies around it; I must dig it out.

I still wear the sarongs my brother brought back from Goa in 1988 - before it was a holiday resort - made by old women sitting cross legged in the street. They've worn really well

A skirt I got in college, so that would be about 11-12 years.

Tis stretchy and covered in botticelli(ish) pictures. Sounds hideous, but I love it.

I have, and wear, the cardigan from Liberty that my parents gave to my nanny when she first visited me after my birth to say thank you for helping out. That was 33 years ago. I feel happy everytime I wear it.

Last week, after much consideration, I gave my beloved River Island, grey, lambswool, v-neck cardi to the air ambulance bag . I still feel as though I've been disloyal! I had it when I was 14 so that's 18 years ago!!!

misswoowoo I think they must have stretched! I did go through puberty quite early so was fairly much fully grown at 12. There were a number of years in my early 20s where they wouldn't have fitted as my weight crept up, but then I went down to a size 12 for my wedding.

I wore the jeans the other day to do some tiling but I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant so they didn't do up! I hope they fit again one day...

I have a number of Laura Ashley dresses that I bought in the mid eighties (sixth form and university) I still wear them occasionally. I also still regularly wear the M&S skirt I bought for my post uni job interviews in 1987! I can't believe how long ago that is.

I have a pair of red tartan PJs that my mum bought me one xmas from C&A (remember them?!) I can't bear to get rid of them even though they only have one button and the bum is all shiny because they remind me of when DH and I were behaving inappropriately courting 13 ish years ago.

2 long sleeve tees by Bonds - one pink, the other, er, a different shade of pink - that my mum wore when I was a baby.

I'm 37.

I have a traditional Indian saree and a outfit from back when I was slim, svelte 52kg undergrad med student back in 1999.
I also have a pair of tiny gold, hand-crafted, ear-studs gifted by my nan which I wear almost everyday since 1987.
Does anybody keep old slim, jeans just as a motivator/inspiration/target for ur weight.. I do.. i have pair from 2005

I'm still wearing a Jigsaw dress I got in 1992 and it always gets compliments. It's a shortish and simple jersey style which can be dressed up or down. I think it cost about £20 in a sale and even then it seemed like a bargain!

I have a pair of jeans I got when I was 11 that I wear for painting in now. I also have a pair of shorts that I got for a summer camp thing when I was 12/13 in 1993 - they even have a nametape in them. They are only fit for summer painting.

I do have a dress my gran made in the 1960s, and a jumper of hers from possibly as late as the early 1980s, but probably older. Plus a thermal vest that was my aunt's at school in the 1970s and it has one of her nametapes in.

I have a beautiful black velvet dress from the 40s. I was first allowed to wear it when I was about 25 and have worn it for special occasions ever since. Can't believe I can still get into it!

I also have a few pairs of full length kid gloves of my grandmother's which I wear on occasion. Also a dress of hers which dates from sometime around 1915. She was much taller than me so I have to have very high heels for it!

I have a T-shirt DH offered me when we had only just met. It is now (after 14 years) full of holes and completely shapeless but I absolutely love sleeping in it. I also was wearing it at the birth of all my Dcs and I cannot even imagine getting rid of it!
