Experiences with facial fillers!

Hi all,

I've noticed my smile lines/nasolabial folds are quite pronounced and it's making me have a serious case of resting b!tch face

Just wondered if anyone had experience with filler in this area or similar and was pleased with the results? I've had Botox once before so I know a good place to go.. but filler is very different and I don't want to look plastic! The clinic I know of is good at the natural look etc but I guess I'd like to hear some real people experiences!

I’ve had profhilo - it doesn’t add volume but it’s a skin booster - so made skin look healthy and ‘plumped up’ without adding volume. However, it’s painful, expensive and results wear off quite quickly (about 4 months) if I had all the money in the world I’d do it but it’s very subtle so many people think it’s not worth it. I did get comments about my skin when I had it.

Ive had tear trough fillers- my doctor added some support for these at the top of the cheeks. I liked them once they’d settled. They lasted a lot longer that stated. 2 years later and my eyes still look less hollow. I suspect this is where celebrities go wrong - they get told fillers wear off in 6 months to a year and Botox 3 months and they must top up - they lose perspective.

Fillers last longer and I do think there is a risk of migration which puts me off having any more done for now.
I do know for marionette lines the current thinking is to not fill the lines (adds to much weight to the lower face) but to fill higher up - so temples. Fillers can’t lift the face though - they add volume/ structure.

Botox or fillers- I didn’t feel a thing pain wise. Profhilo was very stingy.

@ErinAndTonic my experience was that it wasn’t too bad. More discomfort rather than pain. I had lots of numbing cream around my lips. The under eye was fine, the least troublesome. My dentist used a cannula for the jaw line; it felt odd but not painful. She also did some tiny bolus injections and they stung a bit.

I didn’t have any pain afterwards.

I have fillers one every year/ 18 months.
The clinician adds volume to my cheeks as ive lost a lot of volume there.. that lifts the nose lines .. he says as it gives back struture to the face.

What about profhilo as an alternative to fillers? Anyone try that as a sort of ‘gateway drug’ to fillers?
I know they’re totally different from each other but I’m wondering if profhilo softens parentheses around the mouth, chin wrinkles. I’ve got quite thin, fragile skin and I don’t think fillers are for me. I’m afraid you’ll see the lumps through my paper-thin skin. What are the gentler alternatives?
And do feel free to tell me to fuck off, everyone, and start my own thread! 😆 Sorry OP! Don’t mean to hijack!

Does it hurt a fair bit more than Botox?

Botox I found didn't really hurt all that much aside from a few pricks at the time. I've heard filler is a bit like getting punched..!

OP, I think that’s the issue with fillers. Badly done is easy to spot. I did get one bad bruise on my jawline but other than that no problems. I just look like myself just a little bit better; kind of like I’ve had lots of sleep. Plus my lines haven’t been completely eliminated. I’ve no longer got resting bitch face.

I think some of the celebs who’ve had lots look great in photographs/2D but it then becomes obvious when they talk and move.

i had mine done across 2 appointments and I did start taking arnica tablets 24 hours before then for about 3 days after. I have no idea if/how much that helped. I also have these mini cool/heat packs which I used on my lips. I had slight swelling but it was gone the next day.

Thanks so much - you've all reassured me that it's possible to get it done without looking fake. My clinic are good but I just see so many bad jobs online that I am wary.

I’ve had some filler done recently and I’m really pleased with the results. I also had some Botox.

Mine is quite a light touch. Some under eye tear trough which has taken away some of the shadow. A little bit in my lips and the 2 lines that run from your nose to Cupid’s bow. Then some along the jaw line that’s got rid of the marionette lines. I’ve still got quite good fullness in my cheeks so none there. I do still have some nasolabial lines but they’re much softened even though they haven’t been treated directly.

Botox in between eyebrows, top of brow, crow’s and a little on the outer edge of eyebrow and tiny bit in chin.

It’s all quite balanced and my forehead still moves. I didn’t want it to be obvious, fake or plastic and my dentist wouldn’t put her name to that kind of work anyway. I don’t have a trout pout or shelf above my lips.
