I love this from Mint Velvet but don't want to spend that much really, has anyone seen anything similar that's cheaper?

Mint Velvet Gilet

Thanks!

Just want to thank you again @VivaVegas for introducing it to my life Star

Just came back in stock in my size in John Lewis and I’ve had a JL gift card since July I hadn’t yet used so I collect the gilet tomorrow!
Unreasonably excited about this now it’s gone a bit chilly. I also hate driving with a coat on as I like my arms to be free.

@VivaVegas I’m very jealous! Took a lot of willpower to take off the one I tried in the shop and put it back on the hanger. Roll on payday!

@HelplessAndLost I wore it today and it made me smile, I like the fact it has the inner bug you can zip up and the fleecy insides of the pockets!

@VivaVegas I never knew this item existed until I saw this thread. Just got back from Mint Velvet to try one on Grin
It’s really, really, really nice and I’m going to 100% buy one!

Brilliant!!! You'll be wearing it for years, so glad you loved it.

I bought it using the 15% discount. I went and tried it instore and had to have it 🤣

Could have spent a fortune there was so much nice stuff in there!

@Rina66 thank you. I got the code too and am very tempted. I do like the quality of MV things but it's still a lot of money.

I found a perfect one in Next brands for £40 but it's out of stock.

I got a 15% off code from MV this morning if that helps - Winter15, that would save you £28, although it'll still be over £100.

Lots of brand new Zara ones like this on eBay.

I have one from a dodgy website, called ikrush or something, it’s nice but terrible quality. Fine for chucking on for the school run but wouldn’t recommend it!

@Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies

Quick question about gilets - how do you pronounce it? I call it a body warmer to avoid embarrassment Grin, but would like to use the slightly posher name!

That was to NautaOcts. No idea why the quote didn't post!

I find they are pretty good for work. I have a manual job which often involves working outdoors. A gilet allows my arms to move more easily than with the extra bulk of coat sleeves, but keeps me warm. I wear them with a thick fleece or hoodie underneath.
I agree with you on the waterproof front though: utterly pointless!

Lots of the online boutiques have them in lots of colours and they're mostly sized....all £45 -£55.

I bought one in the spring and it's been really useful, in & out of the car when going to the gym, nipping in to the supermarket etc but I guess it hasn't been that hot if that cold, but the hood has been great!

Simply be have some too

I’m with the above though, if it’s cold I’d rather wear a coat
@FinallyFluid - I totally get you! I don't care for cold arms.
Totally this! I have never ‘got’ gilets for this reason. If you need it then it’s cold enough your arms will be cold surely? And similarly what’s the point in them being waterproof? Cold and wet arms!
