Scented Candles

I know it's not strictly S&B, but I figured this would be a good place to ask.

I'm after some lovely scented (but fairly strong as can't smell very well) candles.
Not too expensive but natural would be great and re-useable/refillable if possible.
I usually take a gamble in TKMAX but that's not possible at the moment.

Anyone got any ideas?

Agree Neom are very nice but very expensive.

Bath & Body Works also have a lot of strong smells but not sure if you can get in UK.

We tried a local candle maker called stinky wicks . they have a lovely selection of fragrances

Cosyaromas.com sell pots of spoonable wax melt for about a fiver, the smell fills the house! I use an electric burner and easily get 8-10 'portions' from each pot.

Feast of Fools is my favourite - so far 😊

Mookie and Boo South Beach candle is gorgeous.
It will be my next gift to me.
I also love Brooke and Shoals SweetPea and Tea Rose. It really lasts.
Max Benjamin Enchanted Paths.
Yankee Candles LavenderVanilla - sadly discontinued.
Parks Original is lovely as is their Hyacinth.

Scent is so subjective though.

I was bought that for my birthday-I loved it for the first few minutes then found it made me feel really sick. I found it quite a heavy cloying smell.

Primark. I'm totally surprised, and only bought them (candle and reed diffuser) as they were so cheap, I figured it wasn't a massive gamble if they were crap. But they're not! I bought the cedar wood and amber fragrance, and the pink peony fragrance. The cedar wood diffuser is currently filling my fairly large sitting room with a gorgeous scent, and I can the peony diffuser in my guest bedroom all over the first floor of the house. I'm massively impressed. I usually go mad over the Wild Vineyard fragrance by From Babies with Love, but at £25 a pop, and burning through at least one or two a week, I thought I'd source something cheaper... 😳

I love a nice smelling house but get through candles too quickly, so I bought one of these..

You fill it with water and a couple of drops of scented oil, plug it in, then can set it for up to 6 hours. Makes the whole house smell delicious. Currently using an oil I bought in St Ives called Tranquility. (I don't bother using the funny light changing setting! )

I get mine from HomeSense. The brand 'Copenhagen Candles' they stock has really good throw. I love the 'white flowers' scent but it's hard to find. But any from this brand is a sure bet if you want something that smells strong.

I'm starting to make candles myself and I just feel that I should flag up that Soy is not necessarily "better" or more environmentally friendly.

The environmental impact of soy bean crops is becoming quite devastating in terms of deforestation in South America.

A Soy candle isn't just made from soy. A "100% Soy" candle only has to be 51% soy. It's been bleached, and has other chemicals added. Mostly the other % will be paraffin, because paraffin is what helps the candle hold and distribute the scent better. Soy on its own isn't great to give much scent throw. If your candle smells very strongly then either the scent itself is probably not made from natural oils, and/or there's a good proportion of paraffin in the mix.

Beeswax would be your go to if you want to be more ethical, but beeswax doesn't hold scent very well at all.

A huge proportion of candles contain stearin, which is made from animal fat, rendering them non vegan, which is something that is often not considered when someone sees "100% soy" on the label.

Aldi No.1 Best rip off ever for the Jo Malone equivalent. 3.49 and I think still available online. No. 3 Pomegranate also lovely.
Actually, any of the Aldi candles and diffusers are good and so much cheaper for comparable quality than anywhere else. My favourites is No 1 Basil and Mandarin though. Hand and body wash good too.

Molton brown 3 wick are great but the newer ones have shit wicks
Seychelles was nice but didnt burn well for some reason
Yankee are hit and miss but my favs are pink sands, my serenity and cherry vanilla (smellls like double dip sherbert)
Bath and body works if you can find a seller on ebay or facebook
Neom, i like but feel overpriced

Woodwick candles are nicely scented, Yankee candle price range but I prefer the woodwick brand.

Pearl and thomas use 10% fragrance in their soy candles. Smelt amazing, but only about 3 scents at the moment. No idea how much they cost though as was a gift.
