help! top with thin plastic strap things...

have bought in the sale a pretty top from White Stuff which has v short sleeves & scooped neck - it also has loops of clear plastic filmy stuff - what the feck are they for ? any ideas ? are they to hang it up with or do they go ropund your shoulders to stop the top sliding off ?? or shall I cut them off ?

they go round the actual metal bit of the hanger, kind of diagonally. they don't just loop onto the main hanger bit.

they used to be made of lovely silk ribbon, now they've discovered stretch plastic weird stuff

oh,is that all - I was getting in a pickle about how to attach the plastic bits to my arms - why do they have to be so long and so,well,plastic ? almost put me off buying it
