Pre-loved designer bags and Mulberry repairs

Laska5772 · 01/02/2018 21:29

A while ago someone posted a good place to buy and sell pre-loved bags.. where you could be sure they were genuine..

Can anyone help me find the site again ? .. it was a UK site

Also has anyone posted their Mulberry bag direct to the Mulberry factory to get a quote and repair from them ? How long did they take to knowledge they had your bag ( I am a bit worried about doing so.)

Thanks

I just wanted to update to say that the Handbag Restoration Clinic linked to above made me a new (longer) strap for my old Mulberry Darwin leather Effie and its a great match. They also sent me some restoration cream which I have now used and the bag is looking like new. (This photo was taken before I used the restoration cream), So pleased and the bag is now ready to be used again,.. I could never work out why Mulberry only put a short strap on it . HRC only charged me £98 so really pleased and highly recommend .

If i ever wanted to sell it ( which i dont , I still have the old strap and authentication but really not worried about that .)

@Snakie which Alexa do you have ? I’m looking for one at the moment

Thank you - that’s really good to know.
I won’t be selling my hobo either as I love it! So I’ll definitely be emailing them for a quote.
Though I do have an Alexa I might contemplate selling, so I’ll look into those other websites too.

snakie The Handbag Restoration Company (HRC) was £70- 90 (I was asking for them make a whole new strap in the same style ) depending on leather / finish etc. Though it may be £20 or so extra for specific colour matching.
The Handbag Clinic quoted £199 !

Mulberry wanted £150 about 5 years ago , but haven't asked them this time.

The HRC were super quick on coming back with quote ( i emailed them detailed photos ) . I am going with them.. But I am not worried about it being an authentic Mulberry strap as wont want to sell it .

@Laska5772 what was the quote if you don’t mind sharing?
I need a strap repairing on one of Mulberry hobo bags, so I’d be really interested to get a ball park idea of how much it might cost.

I have a Bayswater tote that I have totally abused for at least 2 years as I use it daily.

I might try and clean it myself...

Laska - NPN bags (the shorter, more appropriate name of Naughtipidgeons nest ) is brilliant. They are based in North of England and I have bought and sold from them far more than I shoud have! It's a lady called Shian who owns it, and she is meticulous about everything.

I used the handbag clinic to clean my old oak Bayswater, it came back coated in plastic paint so looked fake and disgusting. The paint peeled immediately, I sent it back again and they didnt really do anything. Don't think I can even sell it now as it looks fake!

Sad JJPP .Thats put me right off them..My bag although not worth much anymore is special to meas it was a present and id hate to have that happen. .. I have now had conversations with the handbag restoration co and they are making me a new strap ,( which is all i need) ..and if it all goes wrong ill still have the original.. but they seem very efficient so far.. am hoping for good things from them Smile

I used the Handbag Clinic with a Chloe bag that I'd somewhat abused. It came back to me worse than I sent it off, the manager couldn't care left and actually laughed at me down the phone. Their photos of other work looks great but for me I spent £200 to have a bag worth over £1000 made unuseable.

A few years ago Mulberry quoted me £150 for a new strap.. ! I couldn't afford it then , and the bag has been sitting unused all that time Sad.. id just like to use it really and if it looks reasonable like am not worried about it not being totally authentic
