Bloody hell. That looks incredibly painful. I'm pretty laid back, non "ambulance chaser" kind of person iykwim but I would absolutely be taking that further especially in light of the other person saying it was the 3rd time it had happened.

The pedicurist (is this even a word?) needs some serious retraining.

Flowers for you OP.

Blimey they're in for the mother of all shitstorms OP.

Unsanitary conditions, dangerous practice and no accident procedures. They're the sort of business that makes PLI go through the roof for everyone else.

I'm the least litigious person but I'd also be on the phone to the council and a solicitor first thing on Monday.

I will report them, of course I will. No there was no accident book. A lady who followed me to the pharmacy gave her details as she heard them saying it was the 3rd time it happendSad.

You poor thing, OP. I hope you didn't pay!

Did they get the accident book out OP?

Report
TSSDNCOP · 15/05/2016 09:50

So the next person after you would likely have their feet soaked in a bucket that had just contained bloody water. As might you if "oops" is the stock answer to an injury

I'm glad you got it treated and it's a real shame your weekend has been spoiled but honestly OP anything less than a call to the council and you'll be doing yourself a bigger injustice. Frankly the salon should be expecting to call their insurer pronto on Monday morning.

Easy to get caught up in moment. I woulgo back with photographic evidence or better still environmental health department, or trade practices of locl council they shouldn't be operating like that.

It's really unusual in this country for salons to remove hard skin with a peeler or blade like that (or at least it is everywhere I've ever been). I've had it in Thailand but only there.

If the blade wasn't sterilised, I'm afraid I would want to go to hospital to get it looked at.

I would also be making a serious complaint to the salon. If they are so incompetent that they leave you with a serious cut and just go 'oops' then there is something wrong.

Report
Adarajames · 14/05/2016 23:31

Alth to be fair I know I've only used the blades on myself do isnt the worry of them not being sterile in same way, but it is a very minor risk and surely they change blades / sterilise between treatments? If not, that's what if be angry about more than the injury which is accidental

Did they know they'd done it ? Looks agony :-(

I think a&e is really not necessary, just clean it up well and bandage it and it'll be fine. I've done this to myself quite a few times, yes it bleeds a lot and it stings like hell to start with, but I clean it up with tea tree in water, stick some calendula on and bandage, it's sore for a couple days but fine after that. Id only worry if got hot and inflamed for more than a couple of days and continued to get worse

Total cowboy, please report. Hope you are pain free soon.

Thank you so much everyone, i will get over it, but it is rubbish. I will do what I can to make sure noone gets injured again in that salon. The tools were not sterile, and she put the injured foot back in the bucket with the water that wasnt sterile. I didnt know at this point how bad it was.

It is all a mess. I am back at my friends house (great fun guest I have been) and am having some wine to relax after a pretty rubbish day.

That's awful, first things first, get to a&e. Next stop see if the therapist has relevant qualifications and if need be for you, public liability insurance.

Bloody hell, that looks sore. I'm not one to scream legal advice, but I'd certainly look at getting that place reported for some sort of health and safety breach at the very least.

Oh ldn so glad you've been seen.

I would go further with this, if only to prevent someone else from going through this.

Good God, that is horrific. You need to get plenty of photos of that and go to trading standards. I can't begin to imagine how that could possibly have happened in the hands of someone properly trained and qualified. She must have gouged really deeply or repeatedly for that to have happened.

Don't want to alarm you but if you don't remember seeing the blade and tools coming out of a sterlised packet then you might want to enquire with your GP about getting checked for hepatitis.

Can you get back there and have a look to see whether they are using newly sterilised kit for each client without warning them they are about to be reported? Maybe take some photos?

Report
Berthatydfil · 14/05/2016 20:58

I would contact trading standards in Monday
