I am being whisked away for a birthday trip with my husband in early June. I will have no kids and am unbelievably excited but also incredibly unprepared and short on time. I have 2 pre-school children, work full time, live in a cold part of the U.K. and haven't been abroad in over a decade, so nothing I own fits the bill Confused I am reasonably tall and a size 8-10 but have absolutely no boobs/bum and can't pull of proper trendy Blush Where do I start? All help appreciated. Grazie Smile

I would get a black knee length jersey / tshirt type dress and wear it with a leopard or gold cross body bag and gold saltwater sandals or gold ballet flats or leopard ballet flats during the day. Take a statement necklace and heels for the evening.

Take a black blazer with you in case it gets cold. A pair of white cropped jeans and a black/white breton t shirt. Add a black vest that you can wear with the statement necklace in the evening or without in the day.

Done.

Fwiw, if you're not going until early June I very much doubt from my own experience that the weather forecasts are accurate yet.

Thanks. Will post it all back. To be honest the forecast is rotten so I may not need summer dresses anyway! Envy

I always size down in Boden. Just find a free delivery and returns code. They are super quick so not much hassle

Sniff! Boden stuff is like a tent on me Sad Fits on top but hips and thighs are just shapeless. Am guessing a size 6 wouldn't fit either as likely be tight on top? Angry

Wow! I have ordered lots of Boden dresses and Mango trousers. Ordered size 8 in Boden (my usual size) so am hoping I won't regret that. Now need to step away from the internet Blush

My sketchers just arrived - wow! So comfy and actually not ugly (as I had feared!). Super soft fabric so just like wearing slippers Smile

Yes Boden fun prints are awful
But the quality of their cotton and jersey plain/striped stuff is great
I love dresses - no thinking required

Wide legged linen trousers, a few vest style tops and a scarf to cover from the sun and if you're visiting churches etc, as shoulder must be covered.

A wide brimmed hat and the comfiest, flattest sandals you own...the cobbles are brutal! I went in late June and it was very hot, but the most beautiful city I've ever been to, with a 'wow' moment around every corner. Definitely a cross body bag and keep your eye on it at all times. Have an amazing trip!

Definitely getting dress from Boden and maybe a skirt. Are their tops good? Oh I am getting so excited! Thanks everyone Flowers

Almost all my Sumer dresses are from Boden and several usually go with me on our annual trip to Rome. Very much recommended.
I tend to go for plain coloured ones, or very subtly patterned or striped, for city holidays, saving prints for seaside holidays ( even then, I avoid the garish 'fun' Boden prints).

Mango is a good shout! Used to go there but haven't been recently and I am always the same size in their clothes (H&M I range from an XS to a 12 Confused). Thanks!

Mango is also good for cotton trousers, and very reasonable.

Thank you. I do like h&m but find sizing and quality hit and miss! Afraid I need a targeted approach as can't get to shops Smile Boden looking good for dresses but will try H&M website for trousers.

I find Boden a little on the large side. I always order two sizes and sometimes three! You'll find a 20% off code and free returns in the promotional codes thread. Returns are easy and they refund v quickly

I went to Rome early June last year, they were in a middle of a heatwave and it was 35c.
I wore sketchers go walks, knee length skirts and vest tops. You will need your shoulders and legs covered to go in any churches and the Vatican

This one. I ordered a size 8 and it hangs like a sack. No way on earth I could be considered a 6 Angry But 6 is sold out so I guess it is on the large size.
