Boden sale roundup thread - what was a star buy and what will they have to give away?

I got my (final- honest) parcel today and thought it would be fun to summarise (I lead a very uneventful life!)

Hits:

Navy Padded coat for dd3 - BRILLIANT. Looks lovely one and so soft and warm

Raindy Day mac for me - I got the charcoal patterned one and it's beautiful. Feels great and am in love with the pattern which is less aggressive in the flesh than on screen. For £35 - bargain

Cord Placket dress in petrol - love, love, love this - beautifully lined and flattering

Emma tunic dress - I now have three Blush

Miss:

Casual jersey dress - it's cheap for a reason. Nice and warm but so dull, so, so dull

Drapey jersey top - also yawn

Lottie tunic - the trim at the top came too low down on my fairly short self so cut bust in two - not a good look.

Anybody else?

I had a look at olympia's website too. Couldn't find anything either.
But they have moved the one near bath to nearer Dorset so the whole thing might be changing this year.

Yeah I assumed it was 2012. I do not see them on the schedule for Olympia and in recent years I know I went once in March and once in November so I'm sure it depends on their stock levels and what they shift at other town hall sales--

Heavywheezing · 20/01/2013 17:03

I was referring to the one in 2012.
They wouldn't tell me if there is one in march this year. Very cagey.

So will there be a town hall sale in London in March or are you referring to the one in March 2012?

Report
mirpuppet · 20/01/2013 16:59

I have never been asked for a review.

Do it quick and get the money Wink

I emailed them this week regarding the town hall sales because I knew there was one in London in march. But they only gave me the one closest, which they had moved further away and later.
So I asked again and they only gave me one more in Oxford in June.

Perhaps we could all find out where they are and make our own lst of where they are.

Having ordered some more stuff Johnnie B is now spam emailing me to leave a review of all the things I have bought with the temptation of £50. Has anyone ever gotten the £50 for the review?

You're right on the Emma. I'm tall and only on my third try - ie, the charcoal - did I get one long enough for me, ie just over my knee.

I have sent back the twist front tops as I thought the fabric was a bit thin, and they made my tits look even bigger than they are! I now have the Emma in charcoal, red and khaki print, and am struck by the different lengths of each! The charcoal is about 3 inches below my knees, the khaki one about one inch below and the red one bang on knee level.

Tried the black velvet skirt on, keeping it absolutely lovely and warm. very useful and I think £23.40 is very reasonable. YD loved the navy merino cardi and guernsey top looked great on her.

Wanted some particular boots. Is it worth it to keep checking. do things keep coming back into stock. I keep checking. Wished I'd ordered welly boots but hesitated and that was it.

Got my final (I think!) 4 items - Slouch Merino Jumper x 2, Twist Front Top & Pretty Crew Neck Cardigan.
All went back :-(

Slouch Merino Jumper was a strange unflattering shape on me - way too much fabric under the arms... (as a previous poster said - I didn't look like Helena Christensen in it either!!!).
Cardigan was fine, but I decided that the dress I bought it to go with actually needs a crop cardigan instead.
Twist Front Top (cranberry) was a very bright red (was hoping for something more subtle - since when were cranberries BRIGHT red?), and looked, I thought, a bit cheap.
Like people above have said, just had a quick peek again and I'm amazed by how much has suddenly come back into stock... If you missed out on something then now's the time to look!

Had another parcel yesterday, i got the Snuggly Gilet in Bayleaf for £34!!

It is bloody lovely and excellent quality, ordered the washed hoody to try as well, it's fine but nothing special, not particularly thick and at a £1 more than the Gilet it's going back.

It's a dark red/Scarlett not a bright red I have bought a couple more things now and some kids stuff.

What kind of a red is the red Emma tunic? I have the charcoal one and love it so much, but avoided ordering as the colour code was ORA (orange?) and I definitely don't suit that colour. I'm after a properly RED red Please enable me Blush

Has anyone tried the Pretty trim dress? I can't decide if it's frumpy or not.

hokey I did get the grey version. I was tempted by the navy as its in stock but I don't need it.

I didn't like the button though Moosey what colour did you get i got the grey but it's not as it looks.

Just ordered a washed hoody and a knitted gilet, mainly because i have never tried either before and got a linen ribbon trim top as well as i thought it might do for my holiday later in the year.

My best buy so far has been the Toasty Button Through. I love it as its warm and comfortable and the strip of velvet where the buttons are is a lovely touch.

I couldn't believe how much stock appeared this morning. I've been looking at the rainy day mac and finally taken the leap of ordering the olive green version. My DH is most likely going to look Hmm but I'm fed up with looking scruffy and want to smarten up (as much as I can with 2.7 yr old and 14 mo). And at £35 I thought it was worth a shot.

Speaking of which where can I find the list of dates and locations? Tried googling but none for 2013 came up.
Chunky buckle boots duly ordered, thanks hokey.

My item order late in the sale came with free delivery AND a free returns label.

I don't think prices will be further reduced -- those items are headed to the Town Hall sales next.
