Favorite outfits this winter are two long Filippa K jumpers (plum in mohair, oatmeal in merino).

TravelinColour the Ash boots in wood ash are the best grey suede boots I've seen recently- some websites seem to describe them as brown but they aren't, they're a lovely deep grey.

TravelinColour boots were from All Saints 2-3 winters ago- they are doing a similar style this year but in black or brown leather - the 'bonny Cuban' boot. Think the heel is slightly higher than on mine though. Also you may be pleased to know the extra strap bit is removable! Have taken it off on my boots. All Saints boots are quite expensive I know but mine are so comfy.

Alternative could be the Ash Jalouse or Spiral boots in wood ash colour? I tried them on recently but felt they were too similar to my existing boots to buy. Again heel slightly higher but felt very walkable; Spiral heel I suspect is slightly lower than Jalouse.

OP if you hate jumpers, another look I like is a white embroidered folky top I got from Indigo at M&S- it's not too long but the body is loose with a tighter band around the hips so it doesn't look too floaty- sorry for crap description! Something like that with a cardie? Afraid I am always cold so am a bit wedded to my cashmere knitwear...

Embellished collared shirts and longline cardigans look good with skinnies

I'm a size 12 and when I first started wearing skinnies I felt my bum must be covered at all times. However as I've worn them more and more, I've realised it can be more flattering to wear normal-ish length tops, as long as the actual waistband of the jeans is well covered.

I like dark blue or black skinnies with a cashmere boyfriend jumper (pure collection have a nice one this year although it's round neck; v neck is probably more flattering) and grey suede ankle boots with a small heel. I also find totally flat ankle boots make me look a bit stumpy (am 5'3) although flat riding boots over skinnies look ok. Also have a few nice jumpers/ cardies from Whistles (they do good sales) as they tend to do loose-ish but not frumpy ones, often in wool.

I layer up with black, white or navy long sleeve scoop neck t shirts from Boden and M&S (they used to be Limited Collection but now I think the same style is called the layering top in the Indigo range).

I got a jumper described as 'trapeze' from White Company recently which looked ever so flattering on the model, but made me look pregnant so went straight back - won't be going for that shape again!

I have a sleeveless jumper which is nicely fitted and just covers my bum stood up. With long sleeve t shirts layered underneath.

Or just the long sleeve t shirts under my coat if I don't plan to take it off. Once home I snuggle up in a big wrap/shawl.

What is the difference between a tunic and a dress pleasevery confused, I have a stripy tunic but its fitted - kind of Breton style ....what is the thing to avoid with tunics, what makes you hate them so much because they often just look like dresses with a difference name.

What remus said - tunics are the devil's work. Leggings should be kept in the home unless you are one of the 1% of teenagers who can wear them nonchalantly with a t-shirt.

For when it's not too cold: some sort of jersey top. Boden good, especially their jersey henley this year - bought two.

When it's colder - fitted long/short sleeved tee (or vest top) with cardie on top worn open.

I don't like jumpers!

I don't like dresses over jeans. It looks very late 80s. And tunics are awful - they really don't flatter anybody except tiny skinny women with no boobs, who can wear them as dresses with tights (NOT leggings or skinnies).

I do sweater dresses or just sweaters that are fitted under the breasts but flare out over the tum... Kind of like warm, short skater dresses iyswim. There are plenty around and they are great for tums.

I do longish but not baggy layers (baggy looks a bit tent-like on me) so vest tops, long-sleeved tops and knits

I'm size 12. I wear slouchy jumpers with a scarf and a fitted biker jacket over, or more fitted bum length tops (hard to find nice ones though), or even just a normal length jumper tbh. I don't mind my bum showing, so long as the top goes below my tummy.
