I've heard good reports about epilators - can anyone recommend one?

I thought about getting one of those new ones that reckon to get hairs the size of a grain of sand (so says the ad), but I worry they would nip bits of skin too easily.

So if i start with bikini line now, I should be able to do it with ease, pain free by June do you think?

Also... is it best to trim with scissors first?

Thumb - are you me? That's my routine too!

except not twith an ice pack one - soooo unweildy.

Can't beat a bit of QVC to take your mind off the job in hand though Smile

I got one a few months ago and love it. Mine isn't cordless or waterproof, but did come with an ice pack. Having used one donkeys years ago when they first came out I was expecting it to hurt at lot, but it wasn't too bad. Within a couple of uses it didn't hurt at all. I agree that it takes a while and is noisy, for some reason I always put the tv on v loud and watch QVC when I epilate, it's become part of the routine. I'd quite like a waterproof one now.

It takes longer the first few times but now my hairs are thinnner and with shallower roots and it's quicker and hurts less. No pain at all on underarms now and legs are fine as long as I don't leave it too long between epilations.

Have started doing bikini line now. have done it twice and it's already getting easier.

Good tip is to go and have a professional wax and then start epiliating to maintain it. It'll hurt less as the new tiny hairs grow through and not take as long.

Really want a wet and dry one as I think it would be even easier in the shower.

Just bought the Braun silk epil expressive 7381 £56.75 (Amazon). (£73.29 in Argos). It has great reviews and it does a great job. Very pleased with it.

I'm planning to get one, have been a bit divided on whether to get the cordless or mains-powered one (looking at the Braun Silk-Epil latest vs previous model). The cordless one is newer and probably better, and it would be nice to be able to use it in the shower and rinse it clean. But I've had a cordless shaver before that was a bit rubbish - you got about 10 minutes use out of it before having to charge again. And eventually it just wouldn't charge any more...

I have a braun bikini one as shave my legs.
its ideal as has 3 attatchments, I can epilate, close shave or trim and its small so not too difficult to use. Oh and cordless

i have one of the new braun ones - it's a little noisy - sounds like my mum's ancient one (also braun and still going strong) and grazes sometimes on my armpits unlike my old gentle, quiet braun.

oh and one that is cordless so you can get into a place with good light

get a waterproof one - those little tweezers get grotty and a regular wash with some antibacterial handwash really helps - much easier than sitting there with a pair of tweezers picking out all the old hair and skin lol.
