Guinness World Records say "Our book (in case you didn't know) is the official reference for world records. Distributed in more than one hundred countries and translated into twenty languages, the Guinness World Records book is one of the best-selling books of all time.

Bursting with new and updated achievements, the Guinness World Records 2014 book offers the most inspiring record holders, new topics such as Superheroes and Venom, and feature chapters on urban life, the circus and our dynamic Earth. The Augmented Reality feature is back, with even more 3D animations. Live through the exciting experience of seeing record holders erupt from the pages in front of your eyes in full 3D. If you liked it last year, you are going to love it this year!"

To celebrate the launch of the 2014 Guinness World Records Book the team there have asked MN to find out from you what your favourite record is in the Guinness World Records Book and why? And - if you or your child(ren) could have a record entry in it, what would it be?

Add your comment below and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £200 Amazon voucher! Grin

Thanks and good luck
MNHQ

PS If you haven’t got your copy yet, the 2014 book is now available in-store and online.

Meant to add, I'd quite like to go for a record for speediest consumption of a packet of jaffa cakes Blush.

I'm in it too, I was part of the world's largest underwater dinner party. I wore a long purple dress.

Favourite record is GISHWES doing the largest Scavenger hunt - bit of a personal one as I know some of the people involved and it raised a lot of money for a very good cause. Always gives me a nice warm glow when I think about it Smile

my favourite ones are the ones that take a lot of skill and training to achieve like the most squats in an hour (im lucky if i can manage 20 without running out of puff)! If there was a world record our son would hold it would either be a) The greatest number of different excuses for getting out of homework or b) the most Mikado sticks eaten in 2 minutes!

My favourite record is the most tattooed female senior citizen as the lady is just wonderful, even if some of her tattoos are rather risky :P I do love art though and can admire someone that can handle that much pain (excluding child birth ofcourse ladies :P)

The world record my 2 year old daughter could hold is the most consecutive times a child can repeat the word 'mum' and not actually want to tell me anything :S (when I answer her she just says...'nothing mammy') :P

Not most marshmallows fitted up one nostril? Or was it up the nose?..

I was part of a successful attempt on Most People Playing Hopscotch Simultaneously - which has since been broken. It was great fun and I'd love to do it again.

The one about Ribert Pershing Wadlow. I can still remember Roy Castle singing a song about him: "eight-foot 11.1 and thirty-five stone!"

I'm another one who was fascinated by the longest fingernail pictures!
I would want the World Record for the most freckles on a person's nose Grin

Dd is 7 and wants to do the most cartwheels in a row ever

It would appear her twin 4 year olds are going for the most pepples stones. And sticks to be held within school trouser pockets without the stitching unravelling

I am always impressed at the people who break boards with their heads

I'd like to be famous for "longest time spent not shouting at my children as compared to normality in our every day lives"

for DCs "longest time spent not arguing/whinging/winding each other up as opposed to their usual behaviour"

Longest fingernails, freaky talons which are fascinating were my favourite. My son's record would be 'most times a child demanded to watch Dora in a day'.

I love the most tattoo-ed people - grotesque but strangely fascinating.

We could set the record for the most wet towels in a teenagers bedroom Grin

My brothers used to get the Guiness World Records book every year for Christmas and I used to love looking through them, too. My favourites were the eye popping out ones! Or the longest fingernails or beards, or something because it was kinda gross but super cool at the same time! :P

My little 1 year old would definitely win the 'Best Impression of a Dinosaur' world record! He's been doing it since he was about 6 months old and it is adorable! :D

Ooh Lightshines, i loved the most tattooed ones, too! And the most piercings!!

For me it was always the biggest babies and tallest people records that I liked looking at. I'm now pregnant and my husband is 6ft5 so now I'm less fascinated and more terrified by those records.

It was the record for the longest moustache! Shudder.
When I was 6/7 I watched it on TV (I think David Frost used to present the show). I was riveted by how well the man had groomed and plaited his moustaches. I remember asking my mum for plaits that looked identical. Ugh!

That is one I hope neither my DD nor I NEVER win!

Mine would be food-related, like sitting so many hundreds for a meal at the same time :-). If we were to be in the Guinness book it would be for travelling around the world with small children, our dream.

I loved The Guinness Book of Records when I was little, and still do! I think my favourite records are the people ones like tallest man/woman, oldest man/woman.
As a child, I liked the silly ones like most pieces of metal swallowed by someone, or longest line of paperclips.
As a Northerner, I always noticed that the bizarre and 'idiotic' records seemed to be held by Northerners, and the amazing, clever ones are held by Southerners....oh well.
What records could my family hold? Son....Owner of the most odd socks.
Husband.....Something to do with open water swimming. He is always first in his age group (65-70) and would love to swim an international event.
Me ...I could fancy something to do with eating chocolate.........

I would like to hold the record for being the world's most venomous animal - how cool to know you were the most dangerous creature!

Failing that I love the people squashing into a mini. I'd have to be near the top though!

One of my little ones always receives a Guinness World Record book from Santa! They are always fascinated by the most tattoos / piercing ones. When my DD had a birthday sleepover with friends they attempted a new world record for eating the most Jaffa cakes in 1 minute :-)
