Child in need plan - what is it?

We've been going back and forwards between Family Support, Intensive Family Support and Social Services for the last two or so years, mainly due to two of our children having EBSA. DS1 is ASD, in a special school and has quite explosive aggressive behaviour, demand avoidance, high anxiety. DD is waiting ASD assessment and quite significant EBSA now. Also high anxiety. We also have another DS who shows no signs of ASD but is quite anxious and probably a bit traumatised from living with his siblings.

Just had a call from a social worker to say she's written a Child in Need plan for us. She came to our house about 3 weeks ago when I was in work and spoke to my husband and kids. She told him she was going to speak to the children with disabilities team. Now she's saying Child in Need plan.

She's coming round to show us the plan later this week, but I won't be there because I'll be at work. She knew this but clearly wasn't able to find an alternative time.

Does anyone know what the Child in Need plan is likely to actually be? As in, will it involve any additional support or is it just a case of a social worker coming round to our house regularly? If support, what will this actually look like? Anyone know? Intensive Family Support was utterly useless, just a woman with no experience of parenting, coming round to tell me she understood how hard it was, and saying things like "have you tried a calm corner". Is CiN likely to be the same kind of thing or something actually helpful?

A CiN plan can provide extra support. The form of this support varies but can include respite, support at home, equipment. Contact’s booklet explains the LA’s duties.

Thank you @Headfirstintothewild that leaflet was really useful. I guess I just need to wait and see what this plan contains. Can't actually imagine what help they can give us, but I will wait and see. Thank you.
