Any genius ideas? DS is 6, ASD and learning disabilities. Won't got to the barber. Won't let us use scissors or clippers.

Attempt a trim whilst he is asleep! I got a fringe done the other day Grin

That's an achievement. I am currently considering a ponytail.

Yep, sleeping is the only way we've been able to cut hair. Anything with a trimmer or scissors becomes dangerous very quickly if he's awake.

I'd love anyone's recommendations for sleeping haircut techniques, at the moment it takes us a few nighttime trims to lop bits off so it looks half decent. The result is something of a mohawk/mullet for a few days where we can get the sides of his head but not the back because he's lying on it!

I wish I knew 😆 The last haircut my son had was before covid! It is now very long and to be honest a bit of a nightmare to look after. He also refuses to wear it a ponytail/plait etc.

My suggestion is to look out for an understanding hairdresser. There is a guy in my area who specialises in haircuts for kids/adults with autism/learning difficulties/disabilities. He does home visits dressed as Spider-Man! (I’m aware that wouldn’t work for all kids, but you’ve got to admire the effort).

@Beninthesortingoffice haha!! Yes I'm currently attempting a little bit every night over the half term, got half the back done last night so he has looked a bit lopsided today Grin
Would also love some cutting hair whilst asleep tips! After a few mins he starts swatting me off like a fly even though he is still asleep!

Oh I feel for you. DS is like thi6. We can't even cut his hair when he sleeps as he instantly wakes up if we try.
There is a fantastic hair dresser who lives near my parents and despite the meltdowns and screaming she will still cut his hair. Local barbers refused when he starts getting upset.
It's so traumatic though. Hairdresser always says she doesn't mind but I always dread it and feel mean to DS but he needs a haircut.
