Jade Goody parks in disabled bay...

Anyone seen this week's OK! There is a pic of Jade Goody clearly parked in a disabled bay which OK! dismisses with 'what a naughty girl!'.

I know I am in danger of getting OTT and militant about this issue but I don't think that is an acceptible attitude for a magazine to be portraying. It is sending a message that it is just a bit cheeky and not that it is totally unfair and inconsiderate. Grrr

Ah , exactly the same for me Merlot.

I might email back and ask how many complaints they have had. Also don't feel their response is particularly satisfactory. They shouldn't be 'gently chastising' her but 'utterly condemning'!

Just resent my complaint to the deputy editor and had exactly the same reply (word for word) as Eidsvold - so they have obviously received a number of complaints and are churning out a stock reply - lets hope they have received thousands of complaints

I had an out of office reply from the editor too, but me thinks I will re send to the deputy editor now.

hitc I emailed the editor and then got an out of office reply so I sent it again to the deputy editor - so that she is the sender of the email I recieved.

reply from OK magazine....

Hi Lisa
Point taken. I don't think we meant to be flippant but to gently chastise
her - but you're right and we'll be more careful in future. Parking in
disabled bays is certainly not something we would like to endorse or
encourage.

ohhh got a reply from Tescos

here it is....

Thank you for your email.

I was sorry to learn that the disabled parking spaces in our Romford Extra & Maldon Stores car parks are being abused and I apologise for the inconvenience caused.

I need to carry out a full investigation into this matter and would be obliged if you would provide me with your complete details of Address, Postcode, Telephone number & Clubcard Number.

Please either reply to this email, or call me on Freephone 0800 505555. I will then contact the relevant Store Managers and respond to you again as soon as possible.

Thank you for your kind co-operation.

Actually, in any case, I think that is a really crap policy. Sure, parents with small children should have easier to use spaces nearer to the store, but they should be allocated seperately. Grrrr (at sainsbury's not you lockets!)

Even if they have lockets, from the photo, it didn't look like she had her kids with her (but you never can tell what they edit).

i once parked in a disabled bay by accident , it was immediately next to the parent and toddler bays and the spot I parked in had a sign directly over it saying 'parents & toddlers', unfortunately I didn't see the disabled sign painted on the floor, if I had there is NO WAY ON EARTH I would have parked it in. Anyway the point of this ramble is when I came out of the supermarket (somerfield) with young baby in my arms I had been ticketed . I think they should all implement parking tickets that would soon stop them, and they should give the money to a relevant charity

The supermarket waived the ticket after I complained about the confusing signage and changed the signs within 2 weeks.

As OK magazine has pointed out Ms Jade Goody was pictured parking in one of your disabled parking bays at the Romford Store. It is disgusting seeing people who think that it is okay to park in a disabled parking bay.

This seems to be a regular event at Tesco stores (including my local store at Maldon) where people with special needs have trouble getting a park at times as other selfish lazy people think it is okay to take a disabled parking bay. Perhaps they might like to also take someone's disability and then an appreciation of the difficulty they cause may be gained.

What is your store policy regarding this? I assume as you have photographic evidence of this offence you will be taking action. I look forward to being informed of the steps you will be taking to ensure this offence does not occur again.

This is my TESCO email. Have also sent it off.

Here is my email.... will also be sending one to Tesco.

I was disgusted to see your recent picture of Ms Goody parked in a parking bay clearly designated as a Disabled parking space. Adding to that disgust was the flippant comment added to the picture. She is not 'naughty' she is lazy and selfish. How dare she take a space that is clearly marked for people with a disability. Her lack of thought and consideration prevented someone who genuinely needed that parking space from parking somewhere they are clearly entitled to.

One can only hope with clear evidence of an offence that something can be done. We need to be less tolerant of people who seek to make life even more difficult for people with special needs through their selfishness and thoughtlessness. Instead we have a national magazine that seems to treat it as a joke, a magazine that is more amazed that Jade shops in Tesco than the fact that she behaves as if regulations apply to other people.

SHAME, OK SHAME.

i REALLY hate people who use these bays unessecarily. it makes me mad. Once i was getting a lift with someone and she parked in one. I pointed out that we shouldn't park here and her reply was 'why the hell not no-one else is waiting to use it'

She was my boss so i couldn't say much more but i felt really bad and ashamed to get out of the car when it was clear we had no right to use it.
