SN children

Was your child showing signs of ASD, but then it turned out that was not the case?

I see red flags everywhere and then I convince myself that my son will grow out of them. My son is 2.7, started pointing and imitating at 24 months and he does not respond to his name yet. He is acquiring language at a good pace but he is using words to describe things and has not yet figured out that he can use words to ask for things.
Anyone with a similar situation?

I used to worry about my sensitive child and once asked his EYFS teacher if she thought he might be autistic and if I should pursue an assessment. She said that if you looked at any reception class you could think that half of them were somewhere on the spectrum or had some degree of neurodiversity - I think she was trying to say just give them time to find themselves. He’s still a sensitive child by the way but is a million miles away from where he was at the start of his school journey.
