So my son has an EHCP for when he starts reception at mainstream school in September here in croydon London. His needs are learning to speak more to request things, learning to speak to say he's sad scared or tired etc and generally how to communicate better. He is having speech therapy but is delayed. He also has autism but on the high functioning end

His current nursery teacher was saying today that schools generally only have one teacher and one TA. I said so if the TA is out of the room for 15 mins a few times a day to help my son and other children who may need it then this means there's only one adult for the other children and surely that's not fair but she says it's normal practice. Is that right?

It varies school to school. Some don’t have a general class TA at all, some will part time and some will full time.
