I'm sure you've heard a few Wink. My most recent experience made my chin drop with its sheer egotistical madness Angry Shock

DS has AS and suffers from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Home tutor sessions were often cut short (by him and me) as he became too tired to continue. The sessions were meant to be 1 hour long or 2 hour max, but were often booked for longer due to tutor availability.

Anyway, this said tutor accused me of cutting the sessions short because I wanted to have 1-1 time with her to play cards Shock

Beat that!

We have had many. How about (from a CAMHS clinical psychologist, several years ago, within seconds of meeting DS1): "I can tell just by looking at him that he doesn't have Aspergers". DS1 now has a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, but we had to see a private paediatrician who knew what she was talking about to get it.

And I will never forget: "Why do you want to medicalise your son?" from a CAMHS counsellor when DS1 was suffering severe OCD. It made me cry from frustration and shock. She then went on to tell me that all his problems were the result of sibling rivalry with his newborn baby brother and if we trusted her she could soon sort it all out.

We asked for another opinion and this time saw a clinical nurse specialist who spotted the signs of ASD straight away, but was sadly overruled by more qualified and yet more ignorant colleagues.
