hi, dd is 16 months. hv told me the cot may be too small and this is what could be wakening her - last night i kept a close eye and realised she is right, dd kepts banging into the side of the cot. she said i can get her a bed and you can get sides to atttach from argos.

do you think she means i can get a single bed? or should i get a toddler or cot bed? im confused, and if i can get a single bed i would as i really can't afford anything at the minute and im looking up freecycle and gumtree here, and wouldn't want to have to switch again when she is 4 if it could be avoided.

any tips please thanks this is all new to me

thats a good plan - if she was easier at going to bed it would work better... at the minute im doing the put down method and its taking her over an hour - i have visions of her running round the room and me trying to catch her!

I'm thinking of doing the same with my DS (19Mo). What about putting a single mattress on the floor for the time being, and then once she's used to staying on that you can then make it into a bed?

no luck with free cycle looks like everyone is looking for cots and cotbeds. dd is very comfortable with getting on and off my bed so maybe i will just get a single... at least if it doesn't work ill have it for the future. she is used to sleeping with me in my kingsize. will have a think about it all

We moved my 15 month old son up to a toddler bed last week and he has slept great ever since.

We only used a toddler bed because my sister gave us her sons old one. we got a lindam bed guard to put on one side and through other sure is pushed up against the wall with a couple of pillows plugging the gap.

People are often looking to off load cot beds/toddler beds so you may get one at a good price (or free)

Is your DC able to get on and off your bed safely yet? If they can you May as well go for a single. I would definitely buy the bed guard as well though (I think Asda have them on special offer atm)

16 months seems small for a single bed - mine moveds up at just over 2. Though others may have different experiences. I think a cotbed or toddler bed would be goods at this age - though you will need to upgrade again in the future. Any luck with freecycle? You can post wanted ads there as well as looking at the offers.
