Sleep

So there's the 4 month regression, the 9 month regression...

...and then that's it, right? Sleep progress from there on?

So in a few weeks my DS (9mo today) will get over current 'regression' which assumes he was sleeping well in first place and become a good sleeper, with daytime naps and everything. Right?

DS1 didn't really have sleep regressions as he always slept so well, DS2 has been having a sleep regression his entire life (nearly 2)!

Around 9 months they might be getting ready to change from 3 daytime naps to 2, if your DS is taking longer to get to sleep for each nap could you try starting later so he reduces from 3 to 2?

Lots of crying before naps and at bedtime (or else conks straight out and then wakes screaming half an hour later); short naps and multiple night wakings which take about an hour of crying before she'll go back off. She was waking a bit before but fairly easily resettled. It's hideous. And I have an older DS who isn't at all consistent with his sleeping either. Ugh.

Oh Joyful I hope you got a few unbroken nights between DS and DD. But at least I can take heart from your example that people do get through it in the end....

The only way I can tell it's a regression is that it takes him longer to get to sleep and the day time sleeps have reduced from 3x45 mins to 3x 15-30 mins. Otherwise the multiple night wakings are pretty similar to last five months (was ok before then; once or twice a night and more or less cosleeping so easy as pie. Oh the bliss).

Amateur what is your DC up to?

Right now I don't think I'll survive the 9 month regression in order to see the 18 month one...

He still might do it, I did have to sleep train dd tho

well I could live with that as long as we get more than a few days gap between them which is what I think happened with 4 month and 9 month. Could be that I am just clinging to idea of him regressing cos then I don't have to admit that my theory of "he will learn to sleep on his own, we don't need to 'train' him" has failed completely.

There is suppose to be one at 18 months. Never happened with dd so fingers crossed for you.
