Borovets/ski holiday as a non skier

Going to Borovets in a few weeks, I am a non skier anyway but got an injury that might mean no lessons. Has anyone been and if so can you give some recommendations? I've seen that there is horse riding, will probably do that as from what I've read it's just walking pace trekking so shouldn't aggravate the injury. What else? Can I get up to the top of the mountain? Are there walks I can do?

I'm not too worried either way myself, hopefully I'll be fine to go ahead with ski lessons but if not that in itself doesn't bother me, I just don't want OH worried about me being bored while he's on the slopes.

DH was a non skier when we went. He walked every day, and swam at the Rita hotel. As a family we went on the snow mobiles, horse riding and sledging which is free, the bars near the sledge slope provide the sledges. The riding is just walking through the forest, no mad gallops.

It’s all a bit basic IMO, but I think you will be able to still have fun.

The swimming in Rila was quite good.
We have done the snow mobiles and enjoyed it.
I remember that couple of the tourist companies had office in Rila where you could check what they had on offer - we went on an evening walk they organised ending in some local place with very traditional food and drink.

We did a bus trip out to a very interesting monastery in Rila. And spent a day in Sophia too which was nice.
